“The total number of arrests stands at 10,000 in the West Bank and Jerusalem,” the Commission of Detainees’ Affairs, the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS), and Addameer Association for Human Rights said in a joint brief released Monday. Since 7 October, 345 women and 700 children have been imprisoned in the occupied #WestBank and #Jerusalem, according to the brief. It adds that 94 #journalists have been detained, 53 of who are still in custody. “More than 8,322 orders of administrative detention have been issued since 7 October, ranging between new orders and renewals, including orders against children and women,” the brief goes on to say. “The data does not include detention cases of #Gaza, due to the occupation’s refusal to give any information and the continuation of practicing the crime of enforced disappearance against them. The occupation forces arrested about 4,000 citizens from Gaza. At least 22 #Palestinians have died in Israeli custody, according to official numbers. The head of Israel’s Shin Bet security service, Ronen Bar, warned in a letter to #Netanyahu and Itamar Ben Gvir in late June that 21,000 Palestinians are imprisoned in jails across #israel. #IsraelWarCrimes #prison #HumanRights #IsraelApartheid #IsraelTerroristState #Palestine

🗨️ In analyzing all #civildefence alerts and reports from international and local #humanrights organizations, I arrive at the same conclusion as journo colleague Zena Tahhan: Her account is accurate and should be read, heard, and seen by anyone who still believes in international law - The interview was provided by IE's Abunimah/Barrows-Friedman 👇🏽 #palestine #westbank #news#UNresolutionscam #journalists#media #pressvoid #complicity #ihl #law

#Fascism #Journalists from #CNN & #MSNOW were denied access to the #WhiteHouse grounds on Saturday, a day after #Trump announced a ban on 3 #news organizations because of reporting he disliked. Akayla Gardner, a White House correspondent for MS NOW, said that her White House-issued access badge failed to work at the security entrance where reporters typically enter near the West Wing. #law #Constitution #FirstAmendment #democracy #FreePress #journalism #censorship

AI is TERRIBLE for the #internet If we like it or not, traffic has always been the currency on the web. Many news outlets and #journalists would not be able to do their work without it A lot of this traffic was coming from search engines like #Google, again like it or not. Nowadays Google uses their AI to pull info from sites making visiting websites for info obsolete and in turn killing traffic and a lot of sites For the love of the internet, please DO NOT use the #AI summary but browse!♥️

"Seemingly alarmed by the increase in militancy and the stockpiling of weapons in the camp, @israel@a.gup.pe dramatically stepped up its raids into the camp in 2022. It was during such a raid that an Israeli soldier killed Palestinian American journalist Shireen Abu Akleh." New #Introduction ! We're a #free, #OpenSource tool for working with messy #data. Excel is fine, yeah, but we're 🐐 Convenient clicky-clicky? Yes Flexible coding? Also yes #Wikimedians love reconciling with #Wikidata. #Journalists love that it works locally, keeping their work safe and private. #Scientists love storing all the changes made to their #datasets in a json. Everyone loves being able to reuse, and share their data wrangling #workflows ! #DataAnalysis #DataScience #Libraries #Foss

How to write a pitch that journalists actually read. The best pitch isn't only about what you want to say. It's about making the journalist's job easier. Journalists are overwhelmed. Their inboxes are flooded with hundreds of emails daily, they are on back-to-back calls, and deadlines never stop. Yet most pitches ignore this reality entirely. Here's what separates a pitch that gets a response from one that gets ignored: Put the offer in the subject line. Not a vague hook, but the actual topic. If you are pitching an interview with a founder, name the company and the founder. Journalists scan subject lines to triage. Give them what they need in those few words. Know what the journalist covers and align to it. A great pitch respects the journalist's beat. If they write about fintech regulation, your angle better speak to fintech regulation. Make it immediately clear why this story fits their work and why the person you are pitching is the right authority to comment. Generic pitches to generic lists signal that you haven't done your homework. Be responsive. If a journalist replies expressing interest, respond promptly. Not the next morning. Not after lunch. As quickly as you reasonably can. Nothing kills a promising pitch faster than silence when momentum is building. Respect their channel. Many journalists spend entire days on calls. Unless they have explicitly asked you for a phone call, don't immediately call them. Email is their natural workflow, so work within it. Calling uninvited disrupts their rhythm and rarely helps your cause. Include the contact person's details in the email body. Yes, your email signature has your contact details, but journalists skimming dozens of threads shouldn't have to hunt for it. State clearly who handles logistics and scheduling, and put that information right in the message. Small courtesy, big impact. Attach or link a photo of the interviewee. If you're pitching an interview, give them the visual upfront. It saves a follow-up round and signals professionalism. Link to a downloadable, high-resolution image, not a compressed social preview. Offer availability options. Giving choices reduces friction and demonstrates that you have thought about their schedule, not just yours. This makes good impression and shows that you respect them and their time. The underlying principle is simple: make it smooth. The easier you make a journalist's life, the more likely they will write about you. Every friction point you remove, a clearer subject line, a readily available photo, a direct contact person, increases the odds your story gets told. Journalists' time is their most precious resource. When you respect it consistently, you are not just improving one pitch. You are building a relationship that pays dividends across every future campaign. #tips #PR #PublicRelations #journalists #media #pitching #NGO #business #press

The #Trump admin moved Thursday to restrict the duration of #visas for #InternationalStudents, #exchange workers & #journalists. The new rule from #DHS creates a fixed time period for F visas for students, J visas that allow ‌visitors on #CulturalExchange programs to work in the US, & I visas for members of the #media. Those visas are currently available for the duration of the program or employment in the #US. #law #immigration #AcademicFreedom #FreeSpeech #FreePress

@toiletpaper@shitposter.world Even the most die-hard #Bitcoin enthusiast would probably agree with you. Which isn’t to say the idea is flawed. On #Nostr, there’s an idea I really like called ‘ #Lightning/ #Zaps’. These are microtransactions on the blockchain. They take place without proof, are collected and then recorded on the blockchain as a single large commit. This happens in real time, so to speak, and is designed to support #artists, #journalists and content creators. 22 Zaps are worth about 0.01 cents. If you hear a song you like, you can ‘like’ it and the artist gets a tiny bit of money. I like this idea. This is also a problem in the #Federation. As long as paradise hasn’t yet dawned, we have to earn money. That’s impossible here. With Zaps, it’s possible, albeit only a very small amount.

RE: https://eldritch.cafe/@Gardenia/116857506195742494 🗨️ I’ll say just one more thing about this: "democratic Israel" has made a mockery of itself; the people in Israel have watched the massacres for three years and let it all happen! Even the world's award-winning #journalists don’t insist on entering to report - wait, there aren’t even any Israeli reporters in #gaza? Not MEE either? They could protest (at the #UN building or occupy it), yet nothing happens! No #media protests; everyone just lets it happen? None of them are any better than Trump!

Corporate media is barely mentioning it. This is a perpetuation of genocide. USA must stop funding it and instead hold these war criminals accountable." Images show two different camera views, one black and white and one colour, of the explosion and resulting huge cloud.

"The Palestinian journalists held in Israel’s ‘cemeteries for the living’ Held without charge in Israeli jails, West Bank reporters describe beatings, starvation, isolation, and threats meant to force them into silence. Ali Al-Samoudi has spent four decades documenting the daily realities of life under occupation in the northern West Bank. A 60-year-old veteran Palestinian journalist from Jenin, he has worked as a correspondent for Al-Quds newspaper and as a cameraman for Al Jazeera and other international media outlets. But he is perhaps best known as the colleague of Shireen Abu Akleh, whom Israeli forces shot and killed during a raid on Jenin refugee camp in May 2022. Standing beside Abu Akleh, Al-Samoudi was also shot that day in the back; the bullet exited cleanly through his shoulder. On April 29, 2025, Israeli forces raided Al-Samoudi’s home in Jenin at dawn and arrested him. He was held without charge or trial, before being released almost a year to-the-day later, on April 30, 2026." .,,.,.,., https://www.972mag.com/palestinian-journalists-cemeteries-for-the-living/ #journalists #journalism #press #palestine #israel #prisons #prisoners #apartheid #hostages
