🐙 Sunday Philosophy needs your intervention. I've written about Fromm, Adorno, Horkheimer and Lacan. Time to invite some new minds to the intellectual octopus tank. For the next Sunday philosophy post, I'm considering three rather different thinkers: 📚 Walter Benjamin: History, memory and the rather inconvenient question of progress for whom? 📚 Simone de Beauvoir: Freedom, responsibility and the business of becoming. 📚 Frantz Fanon: Colonialism, oppression and the psychology of liberation. Your turn to vote. I'll write about whichever philosopher gets the most votes. Democracy, but make it philosophical. And preferably with fewer dead white men than the traditional syllabus. 😉 Let's see where our collective curiosity takes us. #SundayPhilosophy #Philosophy #CriticalTheory

@stux@mstdn.social You reminded me this saying Some obsess over cleanliness expensive shampoo, perfume, tailored clothes while their minds hold ideas filthier than the shit under their shoes. And not even their own ideas to defend, but society's. Move them and they become someone else, will-less. #Society #Philosophy #Awareness

🧵 It's really absurd to debate supposed chatbot consciousness, but the sad thing is that millions of people think they are alive, so their arguments need to be engaged. I'm glad that there are some people in cognitive science and philosophy of mind who are doing this, but unfortunately, much of the content they make does not adequately engage with the technologies themselves or the (bad) evidence proffered by proponents. This piece is an example: https://rdcu.be/n8By815T88Ra #ai #philosophy

Hello #Mastodon! I'm Ren Solan, exploring a question that seems increasingly relevant: What is the minimum ethical foundation needed for people with different beliefs to coexist harmoniously? I've developed seven principles around this idea, explored in a freely available, AI-assisted book, The Book of Seven Bonds. I'm here to discuss these ideas, open to challenge, and hope learn from others. What do you think makes peaceful coexistence possible? #Introduction #Philosophy #Ethics #Humanism

A little bit of an #introduction: I write personal essays at the intersection of film, philosophy, and everyday life. I’m creating a site of interconnected notes: a living space where drafts, rabbit holes, and ideas can bounce off each other and evolve in public. 🔗 https://enjambments.com #WritingCommunity #DigitalGarden #Essays #Film #Philosophy #PKM

Are we living in a simulation and could it connect science with religion? 🤯 A growing debate around simulation theory has raised fascinating questions about the nature of reality. MIT-trained computer scientist Rizwan Virk argues that if humanity were ever proven to exist inside an advanced simulation, it would not necessarily conflict with Christian beliefs and could even provide a modern framework for ideas that religions have explored for centuries. The simulation hypothesis suggests that our universe could be an artificial reality created by a higher intelligence similar to an incredibly advanced computer-generated environment. Some researchers and philosophers have compared the concept of a “creator” or “higher intelligence” with theological ideas of God, while others view it purely as a philosophical or technological question. While there is currently no scientific proof that we live in a simulation, the discussion highlights an intriguing intersection between artificial intelligence, physics, philosophy, and spirituality. As AI continues to advance, one of humanity’s oldest questions remains: What is reality and who created it? https://www.dailymail.com/sciencetech/article-15960417/mit-scientist-simulation-theory-christianity.html #ArtificialIntelligence #AI #SimulationTheory #FutureOfTechnology #Philosophy #Science #Technology #QuantumPhysics #DigitalReality #Innovation #Humanity #TheFuture

Debunking AI Doom: Why Existential Risk Arguments Fall Apart Is artificial intelligence really on track to wipe out humanity by 2050, or are the most prominent doom arguments fundamentally flawed? In this episode of Philosophy Programs and Prompts, Casey Hart(‪@OntologyExplained‬) and Carl Brown(‪@InternetOfBugs‬) break down the core premises behind AI existential risk (x-risk).
