#introduction I'm Jason, in Kansas City. Literature grad. I wrote a monograph on John Hawkes and a novel called Masters X. Here for the postmodernists, the Gothic, Eco, and anything with an archive in it. Strangest book on my shelf: The Red Lion, by Mária Szepes. A 1946 alchemical novel the Hungarian regime ordered destroyed. Four copies survived; it circulated in samizdat. Tell me yours. #bookstodon #books #literature #WritersOfMastodon

Ali Khamenei regularly talked about his favorite western books, Les Misérables, The Grapes of Wrath and Uncle Tom's cabin. He told tactical thinkers in the Iranian regime to read Uncle Tom's cabin in particular to fully grasp how evil the US is. When Khamenei said "this book [Uncle tom's cabin] still lives"... I don't think he meant that figuratily. From all oh Khamenei's statements on Black Americans he clearly means it literally. #Khamenei #UncleTomsCabin #Literature #GrapesOfWrath
