The less appealing, smaller apples were kept apart and eventually used for a little bit of marmalade. It's my first time trying, hence the small quantity, and I am not too pleased with how chunky it came out. I will look for another recipe or feedback on how to get it more smooth. #wild #apple #forage #jam #marmalade #preservation #slowlife #homestead #italy #permaculture

#Trump said the #arch would be “a top grade Military Complex/Triumphal Arch, to house, store, & have the rapid ability to use large numbers of drones, plus Snipers, on both the roof & plaza areas, & additionally have & hold large quantities of sniper ammunition in storage.” The proposal would place an arsenal & #military staging ground in the center of the nation’s capital. #law #militarization #MartialLaw #architecture #preservation #UrbanPlanning #vanity #narcissism

Major Swiss data-rescue and AI-training project: "Researchers have copied massive quantities of publicly available #climate and #environmental #data from #NASA onto a Swiss supercomputer to train #AI models—and for safekeeping amid U.S. #funding cuts…It had taken approximately a year to copy the roughly 6 billion files [roughly 100 petabytes]…Going forward, the researchers are also planning to copy large quantities of datasets from the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (#NOAA)… All the data copied so far had been publicly available." #Censorship #DefendResearch #Preservation #Switzerland #Takedowns #Trump #TrumpVResearch #USPol #USPolitics

The future of preservation is, as usual, on the PC.

Editor's Note: The Preservation of Fire

Chronogram's July 2026 Editor's Note shows how the magazine's connecting tissue this month is stories or preservation and tending to the fires of history for those who will come after us.

"The Justice Department Erases History; Lawfare Restores It." https://www.lawfaremedia.org/article/the-justice-department-erases-history--lawfare-restores-it "Last week, the Justice Department deleted thousands of press releases related to the Jan. 6 insurrection and other matters. Here they are…We have restored the vast bulk of what was deleted. We have also started to preemptively archive a raft of material that has not yet been deleted but probably will be, given its thematic relationship to the material that was 86ed." #Censorship #DefendResearch #Preservation #Takedowns #Trump #TrumpVResearch #USPol #USPolitics

Nothing is "meant to be thrown away." Not the MTV News archive. Not Gawker. Not the penny press of the 1800s. 🕳️ Maria Bustillos argues that keeping the receipts is about more than nostalgia. 🇬🇧 A nice short hike from the former Abbey of Heisterbach to Königswinter via the Petersberg. A lot of wild flowers, two beautiful churches but no great panorama today. A thick fog at the start but a nice Sun at the end. #outdoors #patrimoine #preservation #hiking #randonnée #randoSansAuto #excursionSansAuto

For the last 505 hours a Southern Water outfall has been feeding into the Itchen just north of Winchester city. This area is a site of preservation for chalkstream wildlife. So well hidden, the site of the outfall is looking difficult to reach. Really needs a drone and camera to find to search out samples. Feeling very underequipped to be a part of solution. If anyone knows anyone near the Winchester area who could genuinely be of assistance (expereince or means to get to hard to reach waterways) could they get in touch with the Winchester Green Party? contact@winchester.greenparty.org.uk A boost would be great, if anyone's feeling charitable. #environment #Itchen #sewage #Winchester #preservation #river
