How long should I expect a NAS to last? First off, I’d normally ask this question on a datahoarding forum, but this one is way more active than those and I’m sure there’s considerable overlap. So I have a Synology DS218+ that I got in 2020. So it’s a 6 year old model by now but only 4 into its service. There’s absolutely no reason to believe it’ll start failing anytime soon, and it’s completely reliable. I’m just succession planning. I’m looking forward to my next NAS, wondering if I should get the new version of the same model again (whenever that is) or expand to a 4 bay. The drives are 14 TB shucked easy stores, for what it’s worth, and not even half full. What are your thoughts?

Running fitgirl repacks (HV cracks) on windows guest and Linux host. Is it possible to have a Linux host and Windows 10 guest (with defender removed and offline) to run a fitgirl HV crack? The first time I tried setting it up (with defender on) after executing VBS.cmd Windows still complained about the non-signed driver. (Using virt-manager with qemu on Linux mint btw) EDIT: Tried @DNXJELiL@pixeldrain.com in qemu, no dice 😢 Whenever I try launching the game windows just reboots. Non HV repacks work as they should.

Webtoon paywalls are surprisingly rarely circumvented through piracy I recently picked back up reading comics and webtoons after years of having mostly forgotten about them, mostly because I missed reading some of my older favorites. And oh dear the paywalling is so much worse than it was back when I left webtoon. If I want to read an ongoing comic on Originals, I have to use the app. Fine, whatever, I can wait until it’s over. But if I want to read a finished comic, I have to read it on the app and I have to watch ads or pay to unlock every episode, and paying the webtoon currency is absolutely impossible. 20 to 25 coins per episode. The coin prices are absolutely outrageous, which I wouldn’t mind paying if they actually went to the authors, but particularly webtoon sucks at giving creators a fair cut. So I give up and download the app to watch ads so I can read the 200+ comic I wanted to read but I come to find the ads don’t even work! They load for a full damn minute and then they just send me back to the start page. So I go through all the usual troubleshooting and still nothing works. I’ve had it up to here with their freebie scam crap so I try looking for other site versions of the webtoons I wanted to read, but there are none since most are not in english and they’re not popular enough. This has been a four day fight that has left me insanely frustrated at something that used to be a nice relaxing hobby. The only good thing that I think has come of my little adventure is that now I’m extremely curious if anyone else around here has noticed the lack of high seas alternatives to those money hungry shit habits. I couldn’t really find means to remove the paywall, either, so I also wanted to see if maybe some more experienced pirate has a direction to point me into; and if anyone may have anything they wanna discuss about webtoon’s practices and the ethics of pirating media that is primarily made by independent artists.

Where are the ebook collections? Back in the day I recall finding lots of well curated and conveniently packaged ebook collections. Things like Goodreads choice 20XX, top 100 sci-fi of all time, etc. These days I know plenty of places generously providing individual books, but not where to find these nice collections. The ability to browse popular releases would also be nice. Ideally I would avoid needing to setup specialized tools, like readarr. But if something like its list feature simply blows away any other options I’d consider it; whatever gets the best results in the least time.

Will the first Nintendo Switch 2 ROM site please step forward? (bonus points if they are torrents) nitter.net/ninprojectcom/…/2115865997433246091 according to fmhy.net, ns2db.com is the only site that keeps track of the switch 2 rom releases. The website nintendoproject.com says they “are working on it”, but wouln’t trust them. you can find experimental emulators here …gametechwiki.com/…/Nintendo_Switch_2_emulators

What do you do if you can't find a movie on torrents? Live torrents for some old movies and pretty hard to find. I thought about somehow extracting .m3u8 but that didn’t worked out. Those sits are getting better at hiding real stream URL. Any way to easy do it or something?

Is FG's repack of CODEX's FFXV release the one without Denuvo (unprotected demo .exe)? Basically title. Want to play this, but don’t want to install Denuvo shit. Unfortunately I bought it on Steam way before I cared about telemetry etc., and the game still has Denuvo as per Steam page. I read about the “leaked” unprotected .exe that was used to crack the game ahead of launch, just wondering if FG’s repack using CODEX’s release is the one based on that unprotected .exe so I can grab that to play and still have an untainted-by-Denuvo system. Bonus question: once installed, can I just move the game into Steam’s appdata folder and get achievements support? that’d be pretty neat. thanks in advance, pirates
