I used to have a bumper sticker that read “I support the right to arm bears” — unfortunately the bumper sticker was still on the car when I sold it for $200. Anyway this falls under that sentiment … Human garbage #Trump moves to allow people to kill protected #GrayWolves The #animals have been protected under the #EndangeredSpecies Act, even as ranchers say they threaten their herds. #law #wildlife #conservation #ecosystem

It's here! Finally we're ready to officially announce "Becoming Stewards Where We Already Are". Four Saturdays in September, online: this is a four-part course on what changes when you stop treating yourself as standing outside the ecosystem you live in. You do not need land! A good part of this is the argument that your "site" is not your "property", but rather is every place, flow and relationship you can actually reach and affect, which for one person is six acres and for another is a balcony, a verge, a vacant lot, a restaurant's compost bucket, the woods behind the trailer park. The people nearest you are part of it too, and they are the largest part. Four sessions: how to observe the ground you can reach and what is worth observing rather than merely looking at, how to read what a growing system actually runs on including the inputs that arrive on a truck and are never counted, and how to plan something that feeds you without asking the place to subsidize you indefinitely. Half of every session is discussion, because eight people in eight different situations will teach each other things we could not. The examples come from the Ranch, as well as our experiences living in a variety of other ecosystems: the forests of Michigan, New York, Oakland, New Orleans, Tampa, Crestline: and learning that the transferable part was never the species list, it was the questions. We will not claim expertise in your climate but we will offer you the questions that build it. Eight seats, pay what you can, one seat at the top of the scale covers one at the bottom. Three tiers are available at the booking link below, pick the one you can afford OR send me a message if you cannot and I'll see what I can do! Saturdays 5 / 12 / 19 / 26 September, 15:00 UTC (8:00 Pacific), one hour each. [link] We'll be hosting this on Jitsi, and the link isn't live yet but will be added to your course registration and sent our via email before the event. ALL of the materials from the class will be published and available for free once it's done. We still firmly believe that knowledge should always be free. The value in the paid class is the discussion, the access to immediate questions answered, and knowing that you're helping support the Ranch, but you know that you can always email us questions and we're happy to share. Ultimately signing up is a choice and we've tried to make it accessible but understand wholly that not everyone can access it, which is why even if you cannot everything will be available regardless :) https://app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=40066932 #Stewardship #ClimateJustice #Climate #ClimateAction #Ecosystem #Ecology #LandStewardship #RanchoDeLaLibertad

"Nutrients in our food are declining. Can regenerative agriculture save it? Approach focuses on rebuilding soil health, increasing biodiversity and restoring natural ecosystems For the last few decades, the nutrient content of our crops has been declining. In the late 90s, the US Department of Agriculture found the vitamin C content of lemons had decreased by almost a third over the previous 22 years. Calcium in carrots, an important source especially for non-meat eaters, had reduced, on average, by more than a quarter. Vitamin A in bananas was down by 57%. The mineral content of wheat has declined by between 20-30% since the 1960s. ,..,,.,.,. The way soil is treated by modern farming may be part of the problem. Ploughing and heavy use of chemicals – fertilisers, herbicides and pesticides – disturb and even destroy the soil’s mycorrhizal networks, which we are only just coming to understand but allow plants to pull in nutrients from the earth." https://www.theguardian.com/food/2026/jul/24/nutrition-food-declining-can-regenerative-agriculture-save-it #RegenerativeAgriculture #agriculture #pesticides #chemicals #fertilisers #herbicides #ecosystem #climate #food

Every plastic bottle thrown from a moving vehicle doesn't disappear—it pollutes our land, clogs drainage systems, harms wildlife, and contaminates our environment for generations. Dispose of plastic responsibly by using bins or recycling. A small act of care today protects the future we all share. 🌍♻️ #environment #climate #nature #biodiversity #wastemanagement #soilhealth #biodiversity #ecology #ecosystem #wildlife #photography #planet #earth #mastodon #pollution #climatechange #linux

#Wildlife #biology, #ecology, and #animalwelfare research present a consistent picture: wildlife populations regulate themselves when habitats are intact and natural predators are present. Hobby hunting as a leisure activity is not a conservation service. And #ecosystem s do not collapse without hobby hunters. For as long as myths continue to shape policy, evidence-based wildlife management will remain the exception.

Times of India | 2 rly stns, 3 rly lines of tracks to be moved out of Palamu Tiger Reserve soon Two railway stations and three tracks within Palamu Tiger Reserve are set for relocation to enhance wildlife safety. This move aims to minimize risks to animals, allowing trains to resume normal speeds. The project, involving land acquisition and potential tunnels, will benefit both the railways and the reserve's ecosystem.
