I've seen a few articles on the ABC recently about privacy and security, mainly around Chinese EVs and those cheap pervert glasses and how our data is being sent back to China.
Is the fact no one is talking about how much of our data is being sent back to the US as well because we tick a little box somewhere to agree to the behaviour? Why is no one reporting on US companies? I distrust them much more.

In a statement, Meta didn’t address specific questions about the pages it was awarding money to, but said it was “important to distinguish between speech that is offensive and content that could potentially lead to offline violence”.
“Such speech may be offensive to many, but it is not Meta’s role to police offensiveness,” the company added

While not a racist man, I'm going to paraphrase one of Samuel L. Jackson's lines in Django Unchained. At this point, legacy media needs to be all given sledgehammers, worked until their backs give out, hit in the head with a hammer, and then thrown into the dead "media" hole.
All of the major networks should demand #DonTheCon provide PROOF of any claim he plans to make Thursday night, or otherwise refuse to carry a broadcast meant to push disinformation & falsehoods.

some weeks ago i finally gave up on any more broadcast [albeit streamed] tv nightly news & current affairs shows. several months ago i gave up on rn brekkie. as ever, i voraciously consume news & tech all day each day, via my curated rss feeds, my bookmarked browser favs/bookmarks, & fedi, so i'd like to think, hope, i am reasonably well informed, but it's on my terms & that means an absolute intolerance for rn brekkie & abc 7pm tv news + 730 doing their reflexive 'the leader of the oppo says' bullshit. my brief experiment several weeks back to substitute sbs news for abc, lasted less than a week due to the intolerable ads, + they also gave far too much oxygen to the liebs & nuts, just with alternative vocal styles to the breathless hysterical OTTness of JFN, ha!
i have one substantial anxiety about this. my logic is identical to that deployed by the rancid rwnjs, viz; wall yourself off from views you don't like, & consume only what you do. at that realisation i then began replaying the mitchell n webb nazis sketch in my head... 😳
