#ICE has not been abolished yet, so protestors are still out in force and now rubbing it in. This is from a silent protest at ICE headquarters in #NYC. Pretty good irony in this sign, especially since it's hard to imagine Canada or Mexico giving these monsters some kind of friendly welcome. RE: https://mastodon.social/@blogdiva/117502706936754188 just reminding y’all #IVoted last Sunday. my parents met here in #NYC and got battered, bruised and jailed in the 1960s, during a #GOTV campaign registering Puerto Ricans in El Barrio. i was even conceived during one of their voting defence campaigns. my parents spilled blood so we all could vote. +40 years later, i campaigned here in #NYS, against blackbox voting, and for the paper & scanner voting machines we use today. VOTE cuz every ballot is blessed with a little of my family’s ashé.

VOTED NO ON INITIATIVE #3. it screams PORK to the real estate mafia. dont see what selling of public land got to do with new bike lanes.

#NYC had a giant No Kings march in addition to other events. On an unrelated note, there was also a dog parade for #Halloween. Because I am both a protestor and an animal nut, my Ig feed was chock full of costumed protestors and dogs. We call on the mayor to:

  1. Immediately shut down the illegal sales of stolen Palestinian land in New York City
  2. Use every means available to him to prevent military cargo shipments to Israel that depart from JFK airport
  3. Dismantle the NYPD’s Strategic Response Group and fire Jessica Tisch

Meaningful change will come not through symbolic gestures, but through the realization of these demands. We want a New York City that stands firmly on the side of humanity and the Palestinian people. We will continue to struggle until these demands are met and until #Palestine is free.

mami, like hundreds of thousands of dirt poor Puerto Rican women and millions of Caribbean women, she ended up working in a sweatshop here in #nyc. my mother wasn't even paid by the hour. she didn't even get to sew whole clothes. the first sweatshop where she landed she had to piece collars together. n00bs like her were used for sewing many of the components like collars, waistbands, linings that would then be used to piece together into garments by the senior people who got paid more…
