Day 832 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I've been playing
Today’s game is Halo 2. I’m not sure why. I just didn’t really know what to do with myself this evening and the best conclusion I could come to was “Let’s play Halo 2”. No friends this time. Just me. I decided to play solo on Normal and just take a look at all the signs. Like this one on the wall saying (I assume) no littering and no dogs. Ever since playing Portal 2 I’ve kind of been stopping to look at the signs in games. It’s fun.
I played the fan favorites playlist. Which is my favorite because I love the Scarab Fight. Ended up kicking some serious ass on there with a sniper rifle and battle rifle. Felt like The Master Chief. Which is impressive because usually I feel like I’m floundering when it comes to that battle.
Ended up following the playlist through to Delta Halo. Unlike the last one I am kind of mixed about this one. I’m not sure. I think I just don’t vibe with the huge warm grassy area aesthetic here. Besides that I feel like I’d like it.
Ended up getting stuck on the tank after getting determined to charge it on foot. At one point I actually got the tank but got rammed by a Banshee. At that point I decided a break was needed and stopped for the day. Love Halo 2 but very much felt kind of lost on what to do today so just finding something to do with myself felt good. Halo is always great for that.
Lets find obscure VG OSTs that deserves more attentions
I was listening to my playlist of video game best songs, and I realized that there is probably a ton of hidden gems that I never listened due to never playing the game or never paid attention to.
So I would love to hear what songs you recommend: either from barely mentioned games or soundtracks from known games that you think are underrated.
Pokémon Unite Is Closing: Do Your Gems and Club Still Count?
Pokémon Unite shuts down March 23, 2027, and Aeos Gems can no longer be bought. If you still have gems to spend, you have 147 days. Will you spend them or wait for the November 12 event?

Today’s game is Halo 3. I saw that Project Reclaimer came out and decided to try it. I think the big thing I wanted to try was the 128 player lobbies. Anything else and I think I’d just stick to MCC.
Anyways. It was really fun. Like TF2 fun. I do think the lack of moderation was bad, because I saw a fuckton of slurs, racism, and all sorts of other things. But if I ignored that it was cool. Definitely gave me a perspective of a 360 era lobby.
I really like the ability to drive large ships. Honestly the part that stuck with me the most. Being able to climb in with 2 other people and fly to the combat site was cool. There was one point my ship got shot down and we crashed to the ground and I had barely escaped somehow. I felt like I was in a real live war zone which was cool.
Anyways, I tried 128 player infection too. That was cool. Albeit a bit broken. It ended up just being everyone lined up against a wall and shooting down the zombies as they slowly chipped away at the players. Cool experience. I think it would be a bit boring to play over and over again.
Honestly, I liked this. Though personally for me most the fun is playing Halo 3 with my friends, so that makes the MCC the best place for me to play because most my friends are stuck on console and it’s just more accessible I feel like. Still. Trying this was cool.
It inspired me to try making my own personal project too. I want to try making a “short movie” with my forge footage. I think it’d be fun trying to film something with such limited control. It’s why the resolution is so weird on some of these. I filmed in IMAX resolution and I’m planning to crop it. Not sure I’ll actually share it but I thought it’d be a fun project.

Layoffs Hit Ghost Of Yotei Developer Sucker Punch
The game was well-received, sold multiple millions of copies, and was said to have a very sane development budget.
Azahar Is Dropping Official Support for Anbernic Handhelds Over an Unofficial Emulator Fork
The two developers behind Azahar have announced that they’re dropping official support for Anbernic retro handhelds, following the company’s decision to promote its upcoming 3DS-esque dual screen RG DDS using AzaharPlus, an unofficial fork of the 3DS emulator.
I spoke at length with Azahar’s two lead developers, OpenSauce and PabloMK7, some time ago for a separate interview, and looking back through their answers, I realized a few were particularly relevant to what’s happening now. I’ve included some of those comments in this article, alongside a look at what prompted the decision, the differences between Azahar and AzaharPlus, and what it might mean for Anbernic owners.
Again, this is a much, much shorter ‘article’ than my usual work, so it is on my NeoCities page/experiment this time, rather than my usual site :)
Day 830 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I've been playing
Today’s game is some more Portal 2. I stayed up later than usual tonight and finished up the Single player. It was nice going back through Portal 2 because it’s one of those games that hits well at the ending no matter how many times I play it. Listening to Cara Mia Addio at the end made me cry a little. Part nostalgia (Portal 2 is one of those games that have been with me a long time) and also just it’s really moving to me.
One thing I noticed this go around, is that I like all the signs in the game. Just stopping and reading it is super amusing. There were a bunch I really liked. But my two standouts were the one above and this one:
I think going back through Old Aperture has also given me a new appreciation for it. It was one of my least favorite parts of the game. but just slowing down and going through it with the aesthetic and the music and the SFX? I definitely like it a lot more.
Anyways. I’ll be sticking with this a little bit longer. I have a few achievements left before 100%ing it. And since it’s not a lot of work I figured I’d do it. And plus I’d like to go through the Co-op again with friends, or, well. One friend though if somehow someone coughed up a 4 player mod for the game all these years later that would be cool. No idea how the puzzles would work though
Retro Gaming Has a Port-Slop Problem
Some of the ports we’re seeing in the retro handheld community lately have been great, and I love seeing developers push these little devices beyond what they were ever intended to do. But I’ve definitely noticed what feels like a growing amount of ‘port-slop’, with new projects appearing seemingly every few hours, many of them feeling more like quick experiments than anything particularly worthwhile.
I’m not against the experimentation at all, but I do wonder if we’re reaching a point where quantity is starting to overshadow quality. Anyway, I put together a short opinion piece about it, just my own thoughts on something I’ve been noticing lately, especially here with my favorite old system: the PSP.

MMO players (past and present): what is your attitude towards "forced" group content?
Specifically things like instanced 5 man dungeons (like Ragefire Chasm or the Deadmines in WoW) which are explicitly designed to challenge a full party of a certain level range. Notably, not endgame content. I’m sure the answer changes based on different factors (e.g. how good are the rewards? What are the drop rates like? Are similar rewards available elsewhere? How long is the dungeon? Am I late picking the kids up from soccer practice?), but I’m curious what folks’ thoughts are. I’m personally sour on the idea, but I understand that my attitude is “the less MMO an MMORPG can be, the happier I am”, so MMO designers should probably disregard my opinion.
Supplementary Context: usually about once a year, I get the bug to hop into an MMO. However, I am not a good MMO player. I tend to flit around my gaming library like an ADHD pixie on cocaine, and there’s no telling how long my interest will sustain itself. Therefore, any “meta” choice I make is purely by accident, and I don’t spare even a moment of thought on “efficiency”. In fact, I’ve often thought of my dalliances in MMOs as digital tourism. By and large, I’m there to craft, read quest dialogs, and poke around in the weird corners of the map for a couple weeks before logging off for another few years. Anytime I’ve ever done group content (which is, admittedly, not often), I’m desperately trying to keep up while someone nukes everything in the dungeon as they sprint towards the end. I wind up feeling like my lackadaisical approach is probably fucking up someone else’s farming loop. Now, I don’t think either the sweatlords or I are playing the game “wrong” so to speak, but our priorities are in conflict. Maybe I’m letting people-pleasing anxiety get the best of me, but I feel like the person that cares enough to grind a dungeon reward as fast as possible should get right of way over my happy ass who will intentionally sandbag my way through a dungeon if the vibes are right. Therefore, I tend not to engage with such content, if it’s not possible to solo.
This has all come to a head because my current preoccupation is Star Wars The Old Republic. Given this game’s much greater emphasis on story and dialog than a typical MMO, I actually feel like there’s RP content that I want to see in the dungeons, irrespective of any item reward. To the game’s credit, many of these can be done solo by selecting the “story” difficulty option before loading in, but not all of them. I just don’t want to be the asshole holding up the party cause I want to watch the 3 minute into cutscene (or whatever) while everyone else is hammering their skip buttons trying to get to the boss.
Not necessarily asking for advice, as the solution seems obvious to me (it’s “talk to your fellow players”, like it always is), but I thought this might foster some discussion, especially from old heads who might have lived the raid life back in the day, but now have different priorities.
Super late to the party but Control is really good…
It’s been on my ‘one of those days’ list for years now, and with Resonance out, they ran a $6 Steam sale for the original which put it in the impulse buy category. Fast forward a week and I’m out of town for work with some hotel time to kill so hooked my Steamdeck up to the TV and gave it a go and wow… I see what the hype is about.
Any non spoiler tips, tricks, or things I should be on the lookout for?

what are Windows cloud GPU options in 2026?
Hello,
I’ve been enjoying Paperspace instances (A4000 these days) for a while. However, since a week, I had catastrophic storage performances. I suspect they started virtualizing Windows (since they announced dropping support for new users).
Can someone suggest an alternative?
Here are my criterias:
support for Windows templates
no upfront cost (210€ upfront on Akamai, 100€ for OVH, seriously for 0.8$/h instances!)
available in EU
GPU models appropriate for gaming
affordable prices, I’m currently paying 0.8$/h + 11$ for monthly storage (500GB SSD + one snapshot)
I built a free browser strategy MMO about economy, politics and war – looking for first players and feedback
Hi everyone! I’m a solo developer from Poland and I’ve been building EcoWar.Online, a free multiplayer strategy game you play in the browser (phone or desktop, no download).
What you do:
• Pick a country, level up your hero and build an economy – mines, factories, trade on a player-driven market
• Join or found a party, run for president or congress, set taxes and laws
• Fight real-time battles for regions against other players (90-minute rounds, first to 8 round wins)
• Ship goods by rail, form alliances, declare wars – or start an uprising when your country’s morale drops
• Command your own bots and use multiple heroes
Why it might be fun: the world is shaped by players. Elections, wars and the economy are decided by real people, not scripts.
Status: early access. It’s playable and stable, but you’ll definitely hit rough edges. I fix things quickly, so every bug report and idea really helps.
I’d love to hear what you think – what’s confusing, what’s missing, what would make you come back? Thanks for reading!
Day 829 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I've been playing
Today’s game is some more Pokemon Soul Silver. I think I got as far as I could in terms of the Pokedex in Johto. Because of that I finally decided to head over to Kanto. I figured many of have some luck over there catching some of the other things I was missing.
The league was definitely a challenge. I ended up carrying with a few level 55 Pokemon and revives. But the other Pokemon in my party definitely pulled through too. At the very least the weakest bought time for me to get ahold of some revives for the other members of my party.
After that I headed straight for Vermillion city to wrap up. I figured I’d explore a little bit before hitting up the gym. I took a peak in there and saw 3 trainer battles and moped out though. I can tackle that later.
I ended up bumping into Cameron the photographer where the guy was doing construction and got a photo. I thought that would be a great spot to end it. I’m excited to see Kanto again. I played through FR once and I always love seeing old locations return in newer games. It’s something fascinating to return to an old place like that.
