#macbook

The new #MacBook touch....is so lovely. That is a very nice machine. And SwiftUI is touch first, so it will be interesting to see what sort of things come up. #apple

While it's not my day-to-day machine, every time I use my #Macbook #Neo, I'm thoroughly impressed by the responsiveness and build quality. Even with a mechanical trackpad, its trackpad experience is better than any PC laptop I've used to date. (And I've used a lot.) It's so much fun to use.

Heya! I'm Rafe (pronounced "Rayf") and it's been a minute since I posted an updated #introduction so here we go! First off, I'm here to chill and have a good time. There are enough bad vibes in the real world so don't be bringing that. Okay, now that we're past that… Happily married since 2009, proud #dad since 2010, and #IT helpdude since 2018. My #tech preferences lean toward #Apple - my daily drivers are an #iPhone 15 Plus and a #MacBook Air (M3) - but I also run #Windows 11 Pro and #Linux Mint at home. You won't find me taking sides on any "this tech vs that tech" arguments. Aside from tech stuff, I post a lot (probably more) about #Daggerheart, #DnD, and other #TTRPG systems, as well as #music, especially weird niche #metal - my current favorite bands are #BeastInBlack, #Blackbriar, and #Gloryhammer. Then there are the random thoughts and occasional shitposts… Also, I dabble in #photography, #painting, and #writing! Links for where I post that stuff are in my profile. Let's be friends! #intro

Time for a new #introduction

Been offline for some time now but getting tired of Instagram again so here we are.

• #union member and #activist from #germany ( #igmetall )
• #coding on #macbook #m1
• Google pixel 7 running graphene os
• lover of #foss / #opensource
• #selfhosting my own services
• #traveling europe in my #oldtimer caravan #vanlife

Wanting to post on #privacy, #coding, #selfhosting. Lobbying for open software and real social networks with organisations, unions, councils etc.

Some politics may slip in here or there, wanted to do two different accounts but don't have the time to maintain one.

Happy to meet you all!

My M4 #MacBook has now crashed twice after the macOS 27 upgrade, never before that. Apparently when going to sleep, if I read the crash report correctly? I did submit them. Where's my check for beta-testing your OS, Apple? What the fuck? Very annoyed right now. A rollback to 26 seems to involve a complete wipe and re-install. #apple #macOS #crash #rant

TIL I can tap (once) the 🌐/Fn key on my MacBook, and a unicode symbol picker pops up. Any emoji, any cuneiform or chinese glyph, any math symbol, just search and double-click. Tap (once) 🌐/Fn key again, and the picker goes away. Simply joys. #Macbook #KeyboardShortcuts

Just setup my new AirPlay speakers and tried to choose them as sound device. Apparently that is not possible when the device is in Lockdown mode. Oh well, I’m not a high value target so I turned it off (even though I would rather have had it on). #Apple #AirPlay #AirPlay2 #MacBook #MacBookPro #LockdownMode #Security #Music #Sound

I have recently taken a hard look at migrating away from my Lenovo i7 Win11 laptop to a #macbook Pro for my main productivity workhorse. While there are some great reasons to stick with My ASUS i9 laptop (gaming), there are at least for me some very compelling reasons to shift to a Mac for my daily driver. Having said that, one of the main reasons I haven’t made the switch involves my apprehension over how a potential migration of my #obsidian environment will shake out. I do use Obsidian Sync, so in theory the data should be taken care of but I use a commerally available system of customizations that I would hate to have to reconfigure from scratch. As it is, a simple host to host transfer of my Obsidian environment scares me, but cross-platform and potential additional complexity adds hesitancy. Bawk bawk. <- me
