Today marks my first Obsidian anniversary. It was a year ago today that I created my vault. I'm celebrating the only way I know how: by sharing a screen grab of the graph view of my vault. Apparently, my vault now contains 1720 notes, 136 attachments and 7332 links, totalling 123 MB. Fresh exploration of a self-hosted instance, fresh #introduction. I’m Serra, a #MagicTheGathering player, an #Elixir programmer, an aspiring enthusiast of #Matrix and Spritely. I recently got into a kick of improving some basic systems in my life, evidence will eventually show if I’m just shaving yaks. I’ve been trying to migrate from vscode to #emacs, and I’ve taken up on #Obsidian. Currently living at @jump_spider@floofy.tech as well, I may migrate that account to this one if all goes as planned.

This is Pele, my new rendering library for diagrams and charts, compatible with the latest Mermaid syntax.

In pursuit of making #Obsidian insanely fast and cohesively designed, I always found the Mermaid library to be too big, too slow, and too hard to theme. Pele will be the new renderer in the next version of Obsidian, but you can start using it now!

TIL: UTF-8 ist eindeutig, Unicode nicht. "ü" gibt es zweimal: U+00FC (NFC, C3 BC) und u + U+0308 (NFD, 75 CC 88). Gleiches Aussehen, aber verschieden. Mein Importskript übernahm Buchtitel aus dem DNB-Katalog in NFD und hängte ein getipptes "- Hörbuch" in NFC an. Ein String, zwei Formen. Is there any way to persuade #Neovimto treat the visual onscreen line as a line for operations, rather than the block of text that ends in a newline? I have j and k mapped to do that, but I'd love to do it with all of the commands. E.g. “4dd” should delete the four visual lines I see on the screen, not the four paragraphs that end in newlines. This wasn't a big deal for me when I was editing code, but when I'm writing paragraphs of text I don't want to have to insert arbitrary newlines just to make the editor manipulate what I see. If it matters, I'm using Neovim in #Obsidian with “Vim Motions”.

I have recently taken a hard look at migrating away from my Lenovo i7 Win11 laptop to a #macbook Pro for my main productivity workhorse. While there are some great reasons to stick with My ASUS i9 laptop (gaming), there are at least for me some very compelling reasons to shift to a Mac for my daily driver. Having said that, one of the main reasons I haven’t made the switch involves my apprehension over how a potential migration of my #obsidian environment will shake out. I do use Obsidian Sync, so in theory the data should be taken care of but I use a commerally available system of customizations that I would hate to have to reconfigure from scratch. As it is, a simple host to host transfer of my Obsidian environment scares me, but cross-platform and potential additional complexity adds hesitancy. Bawk bawk. <- me

Kun aloitin paperisen päiväkirjan kirjoittamisen, päätin ensimmäisestä päivästä alkaen alleviivata kirjoituksissa jokaisen henkilön nimen. Ajatuksena oli, että jos joskus silmäilen vanhoja kirjoituksia, pystyn helposti löytämään mainitut ihmiset ja saan yleiskuvan siitä, kenen kanssa olen sinä päivänä touhunnut tai ketä olen ajatellut. Tämä ajatus kasvoi aivan uusiin mittoihin kun aloin digitoimaan kirjoituksiani Obsidianiin. Olen tehnyt jokaiselle henkilölle oman muistion ja jokainen nimen mainita kirjoituksessa toimii linkkinä muistioon. Sen myötä pystyn helposti löytämään kaikki päiväkirjakirjoitukset, joissa jokainen henkilö on mainittu. En tiedä mihin tarvitse tätä, mutta se tuntuu aika siistiltä! 😊 #päiväkirja #obsidian

I am working on a writing tool. imagine Scrivener and Obsidian having a baby. Written in rust.
Not using electron, but egui. Manuscript locally in markdown. Would you be interested in being an alpha tester? Windows, Mac and Linux targeted.
