@newsguyusa@flipboard.social I have already read so much contradictory information on the *responsibility* for this situation (Ukraine losing satellite system functionality at critical periods & without warning, thus limiting its capacity to defend its own population - & that of US embassy etc personnel in Kyiv - from Russian ballistics as well as losing capacity to attack its enemy Russia): Elon Musk saying it was solely the White House, this repeated by Reuters; Combat Veteran News attributing it to Musk, saying SpaceX lost 10% of its value because Elon (described as “ketamine-addled”) read some sh*t on twitter, got mad & screwed the Ukrainians… as well as his own capacity to make money, pointing out that no military is going to want to buy SpaceX/Starlink after Elon’s demo that he/US govt can turn it off on a whim whenever they want to… if there is *any* alternative at all (& apparently EUTelSat stock correspondingly up by ~15% even tho’ its a poor competitor). Another expert says a 2nd satellite system, controlled by the US Govt stopped working at the same time as Starlink… Maybe there’s TWO stories? And some truth in both? #Ukraine #Russia #Ruzzia #satelliteSystems #militaryHardware #responsibility #trust #reconnectingConsequencesToCauses

The problem with the new Apple Watch features isn't just about the technology, it's about the erosion of trust in our society. Even if you don't activate those features on your Apple Watch, even if you wear an older model, and even if you wear a completely different brand of smart watches, people might think you are recording them now. For the same reason I had to carefully choose my new glasses model to make sure they cannot be confused with Meta's Ray-Ban spy glasses, people will now look at your wrists suspiciously. These technologies that record everything around without consent dissolve the base of trust we had for each other. All of our words scrutinize, at all time, in every context. This silences us over time. This makes us feel unsafe. The problem goes well beyond technology itself, and well beyond a technical fix, it has become a cultural problem. One that we need to fix urgently. #Privacy #Consent #MassSurveillance #Trust

Linux microblog update: I spent some time making Proxmox dance on tht head of a pin (okay, three used Dell Optiplexes) this evening. I can't escape the ugly feeling that the reason I'm investing in learning this...is that allies who I previously relied on have been disrespected at and dismissed from organizations I used to love to partner with. There's a disruption coming to technology - not due to AI - but due to new lines of trust being built after old easy comfortable ones were torn out to save a few dollars on one quarterly earnings report. Wise investments in 2026 will have to figure out where the real trust is, and where it isn't. #linux #cloud #ai #technology #trust

RE: https://macaw.social/@andypiper/116436859213678675 A DDoS MEANS DOT-SOCIAL *IS* A NEWS SOURCE popularity isn’t the №1 reason a site is DDoSed. TRUST IN THE VERACITY OF YOUR INFORMATION is why you get attacked. back in the day, one of my sites became a popular in India as a source of reproductive rights info. was DDoSed for days until it was blacklisted on Google-India and corporate web filters. why? because my readers trusted me in giving them accurate info. a DDoS is #warfare against #trust #veracity and the truth 🧵…

This means that #trust is given until otherwise earned to fall short of its expectations. That is how #law and #order is supposed to work, and I for one will stand by that key #principle of understanding, for as long as I am alive.
