Canva is bringing its Affinity software to Linux, saying that an official build for the platform is now in 'active development'. Affinity is free, but not open-source software, offering raster, vector, photo processing and publishing tools in a unified app. https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2026/11/affinity-linux-release-confirmed?v2 #Linux #Affinity #Design

I had some thoughts on how to promote the #Fediverse, specifically with #stickers. Here's my new blog post evaluating all the stickers for the #Fediverse and #Mastodon I could find: https://bammerlaan.nl/posts/Fediverse_promotional_stickers There is absolutely no ill intent here—just some honest notes so our community-led promo stuff can hopefully compete better with Big Tech marketing budgets. Tagging some of the creators I mention: @raphael@post.lurk.org @tommi@pan.rent @FediverseSymbol@typo.social @Mastodon@mastodon.social @municipaladhesives@kolektiva.social @andypiper@macaw.social @PaulaToThePeople@climatejustice.social @annie@social.lol Replies to this post will also appear as comments under the blog post. #FediPromo #Marketing #GuerillaMarketing #Design #GraphicDesign #StickerDesign #OpenSource #FOSS #SocialMedia

Promotional stickers for the Fediverse - Sebastiaan (Bas) Ammerlaan — bariton

The Fediverse is important to me. I realise it’s quite a nerdy thing to get worked up about, but I really see it as a solution to a problem that I think people don’t care about. A problem that people should care about a lot more.

Curious, as I've been testing the upcoming Mastodon design in our dev environment for the past 2 days. The new design isn't widely available yet, but mastodon.social likes to test with real users and installs alpha versions early. So, a quick poll for Mastodon.social users and anyone on other instances with the new v5 design enabled (feel free to share this to reach more people): #Mastodon #Mastodon5 #MastodonAlpha #MastodonNightly #NewMastodon #MastodonSocial #Design #UI #UX

I like it 28%
I don't like it 40%
No preference / It doesn't bother me / I mostly use an app 32%

No Exit: Technocratic vs ‘wild’ birthing in The Pitt finale

Between obstetric overreach and free birth misinformation, women aren't choosing between two worlds. They're trapped on one continuous, twisting surface of health and tech and women’s bodies.

This Weird 1973 Typeface Just Came Back From the Dead

A wonderfully weird typeface from 1973 has come back to life — and somehow it looks more at home in 2026 than ever. Meet Clippy, the retro font that bends, rocks and wobbles its way into the digital age.
