🛠️ Jakiś czas temu miałem w wiejskiej #Naprawialnia baterię do elektronarzędzi Eko - pilarki i wiertarko-wkrętarki.
Do wykorzystania.
Ponowne skręcenie obudowy, pomiar, i bateria gotowa.

Happy to boost - it's definitely an area worth studying.
Have you published anything (formal or not) about "Repair Cafes" and other popular movements to reduce e-waste / re-use "obsolete" electronics?

How #LibrariesOfThings build #resilience, fight #ClimateChange, and bring communities together
by Tom Llewellyn
April 17, 2019
Excerpt: "With climate-fueled disasters on the rise around the world, what role can tool libraries play in aiding community-led disaster response efforts?
" #ToolLibraries can play a huge role in #ClimateResilience and helping communities bounce forward after a disaster, but to be most effective they need to be in place before disasters like super-storms, floods, wildfires, or earthquakes.
"The tools, skills, and community that support a tool library can all be essential ingredients for rapid response and rebuilding. As we’ve seen after recent disasters, it can take weeks — or even months — for effective outside assistance to arrive, so the better-equipped communities are to help themselves, the better they will do after a disaster. Even if a tool library itself is damaged in a disaster, a redundant and reliable platform like #myTurn can help locate the tools that were checked out at the time of the disaster or items from other nearby tool libraries, so they can be put back into service quickly.
"Even before a disaster happens, tool libraries can play a number of roles in disaster preparation. Some of the most popular tools at the #PhinneyToolLibrary like concrete drills, palm nailers, air compressors, reciprocating saws are often borrowed to be used for earthquake retrofits, and the Oakland Tool Library even has earthquake retrofit kits. The social cohesion that tool libraries fosters also helps build community resilience.
"One final important, and often overlooked, benefit of tool libraries, #LibrariesOfThings, and other product sharing services is the large role they can play in reducing GHGs and climate risk in the first place. According to recent research by groups in Europe and the C40 Cities, consumer product consumption is the sector of the economy that has one of the, if not the, biggest environmental impact when taking into account resource extraction, manufacturing, and global supply chains, transportation, storage, use, and eventual disposal of products.
"Beyond reducing the 'embodied' energy in products through #reuse, some organizations are using tool libraries to further advance energy efficiency. For example, the Smart Buildings Center, SDG&E, and CUNY Building Performance Lab all run energy efficiency tool libraries that help homeowners, professionals, and construction companies retrofit existing buildings to reduce their energy use. Using shared tools to reduce energy consumption is a win-win for people, economics, and the planet."

Scientists Pioneer Chemical Bath Method to Restore Aging EV Batteries Without Breaking Them Down
What if instead of investing billions into battery recycling plants, you could simply take your aging electric vehicle battery back, give it a good scrub, and get all that lost range back? That’s near the mark of what Cornell University scientists have recently demonstrated, if a little editorialized. Indeed, the current foreseen solution to the […]

There is always a solution! This is our #ev charging at Springs Junction in Aotearoa /New Zealand. This is a tiny community in the foothills of the Southern Alps. The electricity grid here can’t support a fast charger.
Those big blue boxes are the solution. They are battery packs made up of #repurposed Nissan Leaf batteries that are no longer fit for use in EVs. The battery packs are recharged overnight, using what electricity the grid can sustain. #reuse #recycle #sustainability

This Sunday, a new event series begins for anyone interested in vegan living, reuse, and small everyday acts of change.
You do not need to be a Quaker to attend. Everyone is welcome.
We will start with a shared brainstorm and explore, in the Quaker way, how individual choices can make a difference.

Podstawa takiej naprawy to umiejętnie rozkleić plastikową obudowę by dała się z powrotem złożyć.
I to wszystko, cała naprawa. Działa :)
P.S. Użyłem ogniw z "odzysku", więc koszt naprawy minimalny.

I just *rescued* a “free” new-looking crockpot from the day of rain. Some neighbor on our street left it on the sidewalk for someone to take it.
Now we have to find a space for it in the kitchen, but I’ve been thinking about buying one for a long time. Hopefully it will work once it completely dries out. 🤞 I just hate shiny useful things going into the landfill. ♻️

I'm old enough that I experienced glass soda bottles being a regular thing to return to the store to get the deposit back. But according to this report, wine buyers need to be trained to not recycle this bottle, but to bring it back to the store (there's no deposit return, apparently, but they get "points" at the grocery store). #Wine #Reuse #Oregon

Linux microblog update:
ProxMox (or maybe my network hardware) does not like when I swap harddrives onto different motherboards (and therefore different ethernet cards with new MAC addresses.)
I do this anyway because used old Dell Optiplexes tend to be... used...and old, and it can be a bit...dynamic...adding additonal storage to them.
Luckily reinstalling a ProxMox node from my USB key is quick, and now the node thinks it was born with this motherboard and ethernet card.

Time to refresh the home lab NAS since I don't think HDD prices are getting better anytime soon and my current NAS is 6 or 7 years old. I found some used disks for $25/TB which, at current rates, is pretty good.
This also lets me move away from Synology and I'm probably going with TrueNAS this time around with new hardware for the primary system.

Okay #DIY and #solar folks. I have a hairbrained idea to re-purpose an old dishwasher circulation pump for a #garden pump to pair with my rainwater catchment system. But I'm a novice when it comes to #electricity and calculating loads. How would I even go about powering the pump once it's removed, and testing it to see how much power it draws so I know what kind of solar panel and battery I'd even need? #solarpunk #gardening #reuse
You've probably got an old phone gathering dust in a drawer somewhere.
You meant to get it fixed. But repairing it was too expensive, too difficult, or simply impossible.
That’s not an accident. Companies like Apple and Samsung profit when we don’t repair and buy new instead. While mountains of electronic waste continue to grow, we pay the price.
Right now, the EU is working on a new law to tackle this mountain of waste. It's called the Circular Economy Act. Done right, it would mean products built to last, and repair that’s easy and affordable.
But there's a problem. Right now, the plans are all about recycling, and almost nothing about repair and reuse. That suits the industry fine: they'd rather you give up on your old phone and buy a new one.
We can still turn this around, the law is being written as we speak. But only if enough of us raise our voices now.

This scaffolding wood bench is a nice example of re-use. Friends of mine had these pieces of wool laying unused and asked me if I could do anything with them. Taking into account the size and the tools I had available a garden bench seemed the perfect solution.
The connection between the legs and seat is a box joint, where the teeth are as wide as boards are thick. For extra stability I added a ledger, fixed with a through mortise and tenon.
