📢 Account move notification Almost everything is ready to move my social home to @fabio@manganiello.tech (@fabio@manganiello.tech). The new account runs on #Yonder. Yonder is a social platform I’ve been working on for a while, and I’ll soon write about it more in detail. It’s an #ActivityPub server written in #Rust and fully compatible with Mastodon and Pleroma/Akkoma, plus with other #Indieweb features I like (support for #Webmentions, and #OpenID coming soon). Plus it implements features (like on-demand remote fetch of statuses/threads context, support for Threadiverse-like actors, OAuth-based account migration that also includes posts and interactions without needing to move CSV files around, better storage management…) that I’ve wanted in those platforms for a while but I’ve struggled to get merged. If you follow me here, you can hit the follow button on the new account (and if you don’t, don’t worry, my followers will be migrated at some point between today and tomorrow).

The story of Linux should inspire the Fediverse. "The year of the Linux desktop" has been a joke for 25 years - a quarter of the century! Yet slowly, and with a persistent following building for linux and supporting it, it's reaching a point where it's no longer something to laugh about - it's a valid choice for many people. Hell, my father (who is 81!) uses ZorinOS, which I installed when windows became too laggy and frustrating for him on his aging PC. Similarly, if you tell someone that fedi can replace facebook/instagram/x for them, they will probably not take you seriously - most of the people they want to interact with are not here. In the very same way that the apps that people wanted to use on their operating system were not on linux some years ago. Things change - we can change them! Linux is 35 years old. ActivityPub is less than 10! Let's build apps and communities for the widespread adoption of the open web, for the fedi revolution. This won't come by itself, we have to prepare it. But we will - we already are! #fediverse #activitypub #linux

It is adhering to <a href="https://mitra.social/users/silverpill">@<bdi>silverpill@mitra.social</bdi></a>'s <a href="https://w3id.org/fep/8b32" rel="nofollow ugc">FEP-8b32: Object Integrity Proofs</a>.</p> <p>As part of its work, it implemented a quirk I thought was curious. ActivityPub.Academy was where many of us checked whether our activities actually arrived anywhere. Thanks @crepels@mastodon.social for running it so well for so long. ActivityPub.Academy is plagued by spam accounts posting hateful and illegal content. I hoped that deleting accounts after one day would prevent this, but I was mistaken. Since I don't have the time to moderate the instance, I unfortunately have to take it offline. I will think about ways to provide the academy in some other form. I've just published version 2.97 of #snac, the simple, minimalistic #ActivityPub instance server written in C. It includes the following changes: Quote-posting your own posts is now allowed (do it by adding RE: https://example.com/you/post-id in its own line in a post body). The Mastodon API can now be disabled by setting the mastodon_api directive to false in server.json (no need to compile it out). Fixed a crash in chunked transfer encoding code (special thanks to Sergey Bronnikov for bringing this to my attention). Tweak to JSON loading code to circunvent fmemopen() issues on Illumos / OpenIndiana systems (contributed by aleteoryx). Ob Microblogging, Videos, Bilder, Blogs oder Veranstaltungen: Unterschiedliche Dienste können über offene Protokolle miteinander kommunizieren. Dezentral, unabhängig und ohne einen Konzern, der alles kontrolliert.
