Night Sitting The hermit doesn't sleep at night, in love with the blue of the vacant moon. The cool of the breeze that rustles the trees rustles him too. Ching An #zen #poetry

From the department of strange-shit-happening-to-my-tinnitus.... I was in a day-long virtual Zen meditation retreat yesterday. During walking meditation between sitting periods yesterday morning, I experienced roughly 15 minutes without tinnitus. (The breaks between sitting rounds last 15 minutes.) I don't know why it went away. My tinnitus does not go away just like that, on its own. The last time I experienced life without tinnitus (briefly) was when I consumed kava. I hypothesized that maybe it was the headphones that I had used to listen to a dharma talk just before the walking break, but there was another later dharma talk, and it did not happen again. Has anyone experienced their tinnitus leaving like this during meditation? #Zen #meditation #tinnitus

"People of this world are deluded. They’re always longing for something-always, in a word, seeking. But the wise wake up. They choose reason over custom. They fix their minds on the sublime and let their bodies change with the seasons. All phenomena are empty. They contain nothing worth desiring." – Bodhidharma Daily #Zen #Buddhism #Bodhidharma

@yourautisticlife@mast.yourautisticlife.com This has happened for me as far back as I can remember. It's somewhat like a lava lamp but the blobs go in any direction, not merely up and down. It is never absolutely pitch black when my eyes are closed. I do not know why they occur. They tend to be ignored now. #meditation#Zen#clouds

I'm trying to track down a story from my youth and this forum seems it might have the right people - I think it was called "White Horse" and it was about training in Zen Buddhism to "be the white horse". It would have been in a short-story anthology ~80s/90s available either in a school or public library in Australia (so not too obscure), possibly a science fiction, speculative fiction, or fantasy collection. Anyone have any suggestions? @gregeganSF@mathstodon.xyz ? #ShortStories #Zen #WhiteHorse #SF
