G’day, I’m Dave! 👋 After a bit of a break from the Fediverse, I’m back with a new self-hosted home, so I figured it was time to say hello and introduce myself again. I live in Calgary, just a stone’s throw from the beautiful Canadian Rockies, with my wife, our three daughters, and one very energetic puppy. I enjoy getting lost in a good audiobook, putting my thoughts down in a blog post or journal, and getting out with a camera to take photos. I’m also a big football fanatic, supporting my favourite teams in Australia, Canada, England, and Scotland. When I’m not doing any of that, I’m probably watching a good movie or indulging in some gloriously trashy reality TV. Strike Alert! WestJet flight attendants are on strike to end unpaid work - and they will not have to stand alone. ✊ These workers can perform up to 35 hours of unpaid work each month. Boarding, delays, safety and security duties all happen before the plane pushes back from the gate — but too much of that work still goes unpaid. They are standing up for fair pay and respect at work. Now it is our turn to show up for them. A strong picket line matters. Every person who joins helps lift workers' spirits, shows the employer that these flight attendants have broad support, and reminds them that they are not alone in this fight. Join the picket line. It was a wrap on Lord of the Rings: Two Towers in Concert last night as we rounded out our sixth show - three in Calgary and three in Edmonton.
