#Transport for #London (TfL) has unveiled ‘Buses for London’, a new publicly owned bus company aimed at giving #TfL greater control over services and supporting reliability, innovation and sustainability. Park Royal Depot in west London will be its first operational base, initially supporting around 100 zero-emission buses. The site will be leased until 2033, when TfL and the Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation will identify a permanent location as part of wider regeneration plans. Route 6, between Willesden and Victoria, will be the first service operated by #Buses for London from late 2027. Four more routes are due to be announced over the following year. TfL currently contracts bus services to eight private operators across almost 700 routes. The new company will allow profits to be reinvested in London’s transport network.

Between Saturday 20th and Friday 26th June'26 - during a record-busting heatwave - the #C3 #CS3 cycleway counter on London's Victoria Embankment recorded:

  • 12k journeys over Saturday and Sunday
  • Mon 22nd: 12,408
  • Tues 23rd: 15,526
  • Weds 24th: 13,520+
  • Thurs 25th: 11k+
  • Fri 26th: 7500 by tea-time, over 71k since previous Friday evening, and up to 673k over the two months since reboot.

The rebooted #C3 #CS3 totem is reportedly "glitchy' with frequent stalls a resets when it struggles with large numbers of folk passing on their bikes.

#Transport for #London Freedom of Information release: The request relates to Wrightbus SRM vehicles and potential royalty payments linked to the New Routemaster design under clause 42 of a contract. #TfL confirmed it holds information indicating Wrightbus was expected to propose royalty payments for the use of London Bus Services Ltd intellectual property in two-door vehicles incorporating New Routemaster design features. However, TfL stated the vehicles were sold to a London operator for use on the TfL network and clause 42 was not applied. It added that it is not aware of any other buyers of the model and confirmed that no royalties were collected for either the SRM vehicles or the original New Routemaster design.

#Transport for #London Freedom of Information release: #TfL said it does not hold any report or study on the feasibility of converting the New Routemaster bus fleet to zero-emission electric operation. Responding to a request published on 1 May 2026, TfL confirmed it has not carried out work assessing such a conversion and therefore cannot provide a report. The authority said the nearest related work is the previously disclosed Equipmake repowering trial, which had already been shared with the requester. TfL added that the request was considered under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and its information access policy.

@localhaze@mastodon.social It looks like street-by-street air-pollution data isn't available just to view. It's not totally clear, but it seems you have to sign up to see the pollution data, but signing up involves putting a sensor on your bike, and they don't accept just anyone; they want geographic dispersion. Long story short: This air-pollution data is not available for Santander sharebike cyclists to view. 😦 #cycling #bike #bicycle #sharebike #BikeHire #Santander #TfL #pollution #AirPollution #AirQuality #health #asthma

Post by Wrightbus on LinkedIn: Wrightbus has launched the StreetDeck Electroliner 2024, the first bus to feature #TfL Bus Safety Standard measures, enhancing safety for pedestrians and cyclists. Developed with experts at the W-Tech Centre, Queen’s University #Belfast, the bus includes a rounded front design to absorb impact, lower windscreens for improved driver visibility, and larger mirrors with camera monitoring to reduce blind spots. Adjustments to the driver’s seat further enhance awareness. Already in operation across #London, these improvements support TfL’s Vision Zero goal to eliminate deaths and serious injuries by 2041, while promoting safer, more sustainable urban travel.
