America is no longer the indispensable nation. The post war order was predicated on a stable United States. Trump’s chaotic #politics has destroyed the post war order. New alliances are being formed by former allies and a decoupling of dependence on American institutions is grinding forward. It will be expensive, but the alternative is eternal instability @pluralistic@mamot.fr with the call #GeoPolitics #USPol

"If you really want an "AI strategy" for your country, it should be this: wait for the bubble to burst, then buy hardware and talent at fire-sale prices in the wave of ensuing bankruptcies, and use them to extract more performance from free, open source models." - @pluralistic@mamot.fr Trump’s America can’t even win a rigged game (22 Jul 2026) #AI #Tech #Economy

Here's a sentence that stopped me in my tracks last week: "The statement that 'the cemeteries are full of indispensable people' is just as true of nations, and in particular the US": https://crookedtimber.org/2026/07/16/55382/ -- If you'd like an essay-formatted version of this thread to read or share, here's a link to it on pluralistic.net, my surveillance-free, ad-free, tracker-free blog: https://pluralistic.net/2026/07/22/table-flipper/#graveyard-of-indispensable-nations 1/

🪦 Who loves spooky graveyards? I shot these on repurposed x-ray film called "Bones" with my 1970s camera. Moody shots with grit, grunge and scratches, all from the raw film; these are NOT edited. These are scans of the real strips of film, right down to the rough, rounded sprocket holes! More about this film and more photos - https://www.obsidianurbexphotography.com/blog/bones-35mm-film-review-photos/ #London #FilmPhotography #Cemetery #Photography #Graveyard #35mmFilm #BlackAndWhite

Bones (35mm) Film Review & Photos

Bones 35mm is repurposed X-ray film, creating dramatic unique images, if you embrace its quirks and beautiful imperfection.

☠️ Death is the only certainty in life. It is a concept we often avoid, yet it remains the singular constant for every one of us. Over the years I have explored and photographed many locations associated with this finality. My visits took me through crematoriums, mortuaries, and chapels of rest. I also frequent old crypts and overgrown graveyards, finding peace and beauty among these resting places. #Photography #Mementomori #Death #Funeral #Crypt #Graveyard #Cemetery #Gravestone
