I think it's time to move #Fedilab forward. I haven't introduced an ambitious feature in a long time.
The idea is a shared Home timeline with all connected accounts, with the option to exclude some of them.
Actions on a message won't need extra effort: the right account will be used, and if several accounts are involved, the app will ask you which one to use.
It's a lot of work, so I'm asking you first.

I hope I will still be able to maintain #Fedilab for all Android devices, especially the oldest ones.
That's why I chose not to use some libraries that would raise the minimum Android version, so the app still works on devices from 2014.
To avoid encryption issues, Fedilab uses the Conscrypt library to install a modern security provider on devices that are no longer maintained.
Not everyone runs the latest Android version or has a recent device, and I am proud to take care of these users.

Just a reminder that #Fedilab has a feature to detect the language of the message you are writing (disabled by default).
If you are a polyglot, it can warn you when you have selected the wrong language.
You can enable it in Settings > Compose > Check language when posting.

I would like to thank you all for respecting my choice to leave the Google Store. Seeing messages from people joining #FDroid to get the app and sharing their experience with a lot of good feedback made me very happy. What I read most often: F-Droid is easy to use, and the export/import feature works well with #Fedilab.
For push notifications, I recommend using #SunUp

#Fedilab updates will no longer reach Google Play store. What's your position:

I am working on the integration of the dedicated Pixelfed API.
I started with DMs and groups. I am reworking the old chat conversation view, which is well suited for it. This work will benefit everyone.
My goal is to cover all Pixelfed endpoints.
#Fedilab will support 4 dedicated APIs: #Mastodon, #PeerTube, #Misskey and #Pixelfed.

#Pixelfed has officially released API documentation for devs, and this is really good news!
https://developers.pixelfed.org/api
Many #Fedilab users also have a Pixelfed account. The work of the Pixelfed team on this documentation is greatly appreciated, and I was waiting for it.
Updating Fedilab with it will be a priority, as the app has always supported Pixelfed with its own layout.

To those wondering about the future of #Fedilab: although I did everything I could to leave the Play Store, I still haven't received a reply to my GDPR request, sent weeks ago. The app has not been removed, so it still appears as an app that accepts Google's rules. That's not my goal. If the freedom to get apps is over, I want Fedilab to go with it. But Google keeps the app. Developers are being held hostage, be aware.

Three timeline functions in #Fedilab that some might not know:
- Long-press on standard or list timelines for additional filters (for example, self-replies). (see image)
- Long-press on a hashtag to follow or filter it.
- Long-press on interaction buttons to interact using another account of yours (if you have only two, you will not be asked which account to use; quotes are not supported yet - see issue 121).

#HolosDiscover now lets you filter trends (posts, tags and links) by language. It also displays trending accounts related to those results.
What's your opinion about bringing HolosDiscover inside #Fedilab?

I decided to take a break, because coding became a competition with myself, releasing quickly to satisfy people using #Fedilab and my other projects.
But that is the trap. I gave a lot, hoping people would keep enjoying my projects.
I was looking at it the wrong way. People here are not waiting for results. Building fast and creating things before even suggesting them is not how it works. I should have understood it sooner :)
Definitely taking that break.

#Fedilab has left the Google Play Store.
You can update your Google version manually using the APK files attached to the release notes.
For automatic updates shortly after the release, I recommend switching to Fedilab's custom F-Droid repository.
See how to do that in the next message of this thread.

#Fedilab 3.45.1 fixes a crash with art timelines and Pixelfed timelines. If you use those, skip 3.45.0 when it releases on F-Droid. Furthermore, a bug with the new "show description on hidden media" feature was fixed.

Hey @pixelfed@mastodon.social,
I am not sure where to find the API docs, especially for the endpoints that differ from the Mastodon API. I would like to support them in #Fedilab. Thank you for your work!

#Fedilab 3.45.0 has been published!
It brings several improvements and fixes. You can now add a colored mark next to avatars in timelines to easily identify content from some accounts. Large media files are automatically resized to what your instance supports. You can also publish directly from the message preview feature.
There are also many fixes, especially a lot of work on catching gaps in the Home timeline.

For those who still see gaps in their home timeline with #Fedilab, there is an open issue on #CodeBerg where I published two new APKs today:

This comment explains how to send reports: https://codeberg.org/tom79/Fedilab/issues/1410#issuecomment-23273524
Feel free to help. You can safely install the APK (Google or #FDroid version, from the custom repo) without breaking updates.

Just a reminder for people using #Mastodon compatible software: you can add a media description to your profile and header pictures. #Fedilab lets you add them through your profile.
To see descriptions from other accounts, tap their profile or header picture to open it, then tap it again to display the media description.

If you have an app that relies on alternative frontends such as #Invidious, #Nitter and others, it's often hard to maintain a list of instances. I had that problem with #UntrackMe and #CastLab, so a CI job now runs every day to maintain a list of available instances.
I might add support for this to #Fedilab.
