RE: https://mastox.eu/@the_andrey_x/117450129215993485 Israeli settlers burn olive trees, injure [WaPo] journalist in West Bank attack | Reuters (2026-10-16) https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/israeli-settlers-burn-olive-trees-injure-journalist-west-bank-attack-2026-10-16/ ——— >> The attack continued after the military's arrival, with Israeli soldiers firing tear gas in the direction of the Palestinians who had dodged the jeeps... a Reuters photographer saw at least one armed settler fire a gun. >> Palestinian medics said two people were injured and taken to hospitals in the area of Ramallah. One of them was Heidi Levine, a photojournalist with the #WashingtonPost. Video of the attack showed Levine lying on her side on a dirt path with her hands over her face as at least three settlers surrounded her. >> Speaking from a hospital bed later, Levine, who is in stable condition, said: "I was attacked, pushed to the ground. Luckily I had my flak jacket and helmet, otherwise I probably wouldn't even be here, because they just kept ‌kicking me and kicking me.".. #WestBank #SettlerViolence #palestine@palestine@fedibird.com

I'm happy for Karen Attiah and grateful to her for sticking up for what's right at great personal cost. There are a lot of positive lessons to draw from this. One of the most important is that this is why we need labor unions, and this is why the fascists are so desperate to destroy and disempower them. #KarenAttiah #WashingtonPost #journalism #unions Arbitrator orders Washington Post to reinstate Karen Attiah with full back pay and benefits

yahoo news | ‘Calling… Epstein Island’: Journalists Phoning White House Get Quite the Surpris... Reporters from The Washington Post’s Style section were dialing the White House switchboard to ask about First Lady Melania Trump’s outfit when, on many Android phones, the caller‑ID label displayed “Epstein Island” — the nickname for Jeffrey Epstein’s Little St. James. The phone number itself was correct; only the name attached to it was wrong, leading the journalists to wonder why the White House was being associated with the convicted pedophile’s Caribbean island. The glitch was traced to a brief “fake edit” in Google Maps that was pulled into Google’s call‑screening feature. The edit erroneously linked the White House number to the island’s name, affecting Android devices while iPhone callers saw no such label. After the Post reported the problem, Google confirmed the violation of its policy, reversed the change, blocked the responsible user, and by Friday the erroneous label no longer appeared. The incident comes at a time of renewed scrutiny of former President Donald Trump’s past connections to Epstein, especially after the release of the “Epstein files.” Trump has said he knew Epstein socially before a falling‑out but has always denied any knowledge of the financier’s criminal activities. The story was first published on Mediaite. Media expert @Edeggans@flipboard.com takes a look at what's going on with CBS News and The Washington Post. "History has shown that journalism has often needed wealthy, civic-minded patrons willing to support the efforts of trained and experienced professionals who can deliver accurate information to the public," he writes in his Switching Codes newsletter. "Time for the wealthiest people in this country — and on this planet — to do more than protect their bottom lines while our journalism infrastructure burns." https://flip.it/ZOygZx #Media #Journalism #WashingtonPost #CBSNews
