RE: https://w3c.social/@w3c/117393555521007349

Today the @w3c@w3c.social has published a new version of the SVG2 Candidate Recommendation.

The SVG Working Group is actively trying to remove the paper cuts and have something which is interoperable. There are many parts of the spec which are not fully tested in WPT. One step at a time, we are improving it.

If you see implementation bugs, issues with the spec, missing tests, do not hesitate to report them. It will help a lot.

#SVG fans rejoice! \o/  As of today there is a fresh version of SVG2 with corrections, clarifications and improvements for more interoperability, in particular in implementations in web browsers. https://www.w3.org/news/2026/updated-candidate-recommendation-scalable-vector-graphics-svg-2/

RE: https://front-end.social/@hdv/117285970784191758 An idea to kick things off: Expel all surveillance capitalists from the W3C. Here are some off the top of my head that are actively working with authoritarian regimes to destroy human rights and democracy to start you off with: • Amazon • Oracle • Meta • Google • Microsoft • IBM • Softbank Thoughts? #W3C #humanRights

At the @ab@w3c.social , me and @torgo@mastodon.social have written “Further Aligning W3C's Program of Technical Work with Human Rights” that proposes more things we can do to consider human rights in W3C work. https://www.w3.org/TR/furthering-human-rights/ Some of these have already started, like the community group. https://www.w3.org/groups/cg/threats-and-harms/

LOLA is a proposal for live online account portability between two ActivityPub servers at the request of a user. The goal is to allow the user to pursue the following workflow:

  • Request a destination server to copy an ActivityPub account from a source server
  • Authorize the destination server to the source server
  • See the content in its new location after the destination server completes copying it over
  • Optionally, at a later time, ask the source server to send notifications to followers that the account is moving
  • Optionally, at a later time, redirect the content at the source server to the destination server

Anyone who is interested in the #Fediverse and #ActivityPub is welcome to join the Social Web Community Group #SocialCG at the #w3c. It's the group that develops and advances the social standards that make this network go. It's open to anyone. If you have specific interests, we have task forces that work on specific topics. Or you can start one! It's easy to join.

The #W3C is working on end-to-end encryption #E2EE for #ActivityPub, with three main goals: enabling #encryptedmessages with attachments, ensuring #correctencryption, and verifying #usercontrol of signing keys. The Fundamental Goal is being addressed by the SWICG’s ActivityPub E2EE project team, while the Security Goal requires client software to authenticate KeyPackages. https://soatok.blog/2026/07/15/the-long-tail-of-work-left-until-activitypub-has-e2ee/?Fedizen.EU #Fedizen #Fediverse #ActivityPub #News

📢 Webmentions made easy New article about my webmentions library. You know that I love Webmentions, and I see them as the ideal future for truly decentralized peer-to-peer federation (or at least an important building block for it). However, even though the #W3C recommendation has been around for nearly a decade, there aren’t many mainstream implementations out there, besides a few personal blog platforms and a Wordpress plugin. With this library I have tried to lower the entry barrier to integrating #Webmentions on your website, so you can easily send and receive comments to other websites by simply publishing a page that links them - in line with the POSSE principle. If you use FastAPI or Flask on Python, you serve your mentionable pages as static files and you want to store mentions on a SQLAlchemy backend, the integration takes just a couple of lines of code. And more customized integrations can be achieved by simply extending some of the basic objects. More bindings (for JavaScript/TypeScript and Go first) are on the backlog. The Go binding in particular would allow me to implement this also in #Writefreely - I’d love to make it compatible both with ActivityPub and Webmention, so that interactions can happen with platforms supporting either of the specification. And, who knows, one day it’d be nice to have it on Mastodon too. Imagine a future where you write a post about a blog article on your Mastodon profile, and it gets automatically rendered in the comment section of that website…
