Has anyone else seen the new Star Wars animated show, "Maul: Shadow Lord"? I've been catching up on it and so far, it's fantastic. It really reminds me of the old EU stuff from the prequel era in terms of its story and aesthetic, and the animation is downright gorgeous. In all honesty, it gives me that George Lucas feel that only a few things in the Disney era have (Ahsoka, Rebels, parts of The Mandalorian, the SW Jedi games). #StarWars #starwarsday #disney #darthmaul

Happy #MayThe4th ! Here's a photo I took at @esoastronomy@mastodon.social 's Paranal Observatory in #Chile, with one of our 8-m telescopes aiming its four lasers at the Large Magellanic Cloud, a small galaxy orbiting the Milky Way. The lasers excite sodium atoms high up in the atmosphere, creating artificial "stars" whose twinkle we can measure in real time to correct atmospheric turbulence and get super sharp images.
