Second recovery parkwalk today, at sunny but breezy Cramond. Enjoyed it until the last km when I realised I’d probably overdone it, based on the unpleasant chest pain (don’t worry it’s “normal” for SCAD recovery). Finished a bit demoralised. At home I realised I might be able to hit 50 parkruns on my 50th birthday so decided to focus on that instead of trying to be faster, and next time I’ll walk a bit slower. Ego suitably chastised. #parkwalk #parkrun #SCAD #characterBuilding

RE: https://mstdn.social/@junesim63/117347113352349696 See also the legal threats against #parkrun another charity whose weekly events are facilitated entirely by unpaid volunteers. They provide a course for anyone to run or walk around at a specified time and will provide participants with their time upon presentation of an identifying barcode. What anyone links to that barcode in terms of name, age or gender is not policed by parkrun (no 'papers, please' or medical tests required), and for that it is targeted by those wishing to eradicate trans people from public life. The only restriction is 'We prohibit the registration of names which include rude, offensive, political and/or inappropriate language, which may incite and/or reference any kind of violence and/or hate towards others, contain sexual connotations and/or bring parkrun into disrepute, and our decision is final.'

I would love #parkrun to be more explicitly trans-inclusive, but for their lack of desire/ability to enforce participants use their government IDs (which can (at least currently) be changed to accurately reflect gender rather than sex assigned at birth anyway) and all of the privacy concerns that such verification entails - they are threatened by a well-funded and rabid mob of literally a handful of people.

We're up in #Aberdeen visiting friends, so obviously had to do the new-to-us #parkrun. It's so nice having the half hour later Scottish start, we even had time for breakfast today! It was forecast to rain quite heavily at one point but came out nice in the end, the route is sort of an out and back (out along this top path, back along the beach promenade) and I imagine could be quite grim in windy weather but it was lovely today. Lots of tourists, but we were all beaten by someone from Australia as per usual. Got back to our hotel, immediately ran into another parkrunner in the car park. We are legion.

We're up in Aberdeen visiting pals, but we couldn't neglect our #parkrun cult requirements! A lovely flat, fast out-and-back with epic sea views and a long sprint finish. The rain held off, the local crowd was friendly and welcoming, and I had a great run. Thanks to a post on Mastodon, I tried out heel lock lacing for the first time... Early days, but I'm prepared to whisper cautiously: 'game changer'.

You may know we like a #parkrun. Both of us (we're a husband & wife team) run and volunteer regularly for our local one. You may also know the billionaire sponsored hate group "Women's Sports Union" (note: they want to regress women's sports and there's nothing uniting about them) have given Parkrun a deadline of Friday before legal action is taken because men, women, and everyone in-between go for a jog on a Saturday morning while volunteers with a stopwatch time it. There goal is to erase trans people from public life under a BS guise of protecting women's spaces. #Stonewall have a #Rainbowlaces campaign as a simple way to show your support against the hate - https://www.stonewall.org.uk/get-involved/support-us/rainbow-laces We've bought a pair each. For £15 it's a cheap way be visible at events and we encourage you to support the campaign too. We're Tailwalkers at #Waverley Lakes parkrun this Saturday (in case you're close). It's unlikely the laces will arrive before then but will wear for future ones. #MovewithPride

#ParkRun 132 done and dooone. Endless scorchio. Stupid overachieving wife. Why can't we just have a nice run instead of the flipping labours of Heracles. That was hard hard lemon hard, as the old expression goes. One day I will be fit enough that I will at least be able to keep up with that woman. Although when she's struggling I will stop and wait for her because I am NOT A TERRIBLE PERSON. Only joking. Little bit of healthy competition among us keeps the love alive. Anyway I am now cleansed. Plus I had a chance to have a big whinge about work in the car on the way home and I'm now seeing my mother in laws insane dog. Hurrah! Stupid animal. I love her very much. Have a great day everyone! On the tourist trail because my #parkrun isn't on today (balloons). Obviously I'm here ridiculously early (they did say the car park fills up quickly) so how am I filling my time? By cleaning the inside of my windscreen, obviously.

If you look at my mile splits (and not the km ones) a nicely progressive #parkrun effort at my NENDY of Southwick Country Park. Almost 3 laps on rocky mostly flat trail, managed to drag myself up to 14th place overall and 1st lady. 82nd different location, 9th 'S' location, and a date bingo to boot. New NENDY is Shepton Mallet. #running #RunnersOfMastodon

July #running recap: my second-biggest month of the year. 277.6 → 251.4mi, EG 12,328 → 10,012ft, time 50.2 → 47.4hrs. Highlights: a trip to Pittsburgh and Cupertino: I ran my first Pittsburgh #parkrun in 90%+ humidity and got my fastest 5k in 2026 at 23:50, and revisited Carnegie Mellon after 20+ years! VO₂max jumped to 54.2 (almost an all-time high), and I've run 1,413mi, only 39.2mi behind my yearly goal of 2,500! Heavy training ahead – onward! 💪

Well that was a beautiful setting for #parkrun this morning. Four laps around playing fields and park next to Tewkesbury Abbey. Apparently it was under water due to flooding from January to March. Dry as a bone today.
