After months of waiting for this stupid part for my trike, I called again today, waited on hold, again, and after a bit of being pushed around my part is finally in. Going tomorrow to pick it up. If all goes well, Saturday I will go pick it up and have it running again. #motorcycle

I have the part finally! Tomorrow I make the fix and get my trike home. Hopefully I can get in some miles before we head to VA for the wedding. #motorcycle

Trike is back on the road!! First miles since June. I feel like my soul has been returned to me. Not the best, prettiest, or fun ride but it was 60 miles of joy, even with 10 miles of traffic. If you had told me 20 years ago that not riding would be harmful for my mental health, not sure I would’ve believed you. My emotional wellbeing is now dependent on riding. It’s like my heart is ripped out when I can’t ride nowadays. #motorcycle

@26pglt@mastodon.au I mostly agree. There is quite a lot that can be done to make our roads safer and to teach driving to much better standards. I don’t want to make this a long toot (it’s a habit I have) and if there is intertest out there I am happy to carry on with this conversation. One beef I have is you: ”There’s lots of bad drivers out there, esp among those who’ve been driving for ages.” This is really not helpful and easily falsifiable given the large amount of *variables* and *circumstances* which lead to kind of statistics collected as evidence. I could just as easily assert that P platers are the worst #drivers on the road and might even cite some stats to back it up. But #stats are only as good as the #assumptions on which they are based. I consider the level of #DrivingSchool instructions to be awfully bad. For example, take a look at the differences between a young adult undergoing instruction for their #motorcycle licence against another going through driving school for a #car licence (NOTE: This is in #Australia, I don’t know about other countries). One will be better at #Roadcraft then the other when there should be no difference. #RoadSafety #DriverCompetencies #DrivingLicence #RidingLicence #DrivingStandards #DriverTraining #LicenceRequirements #Testing #RoadStats

Especially not on a german Autobahn when you are rolling at 85 km/h in the slipstream of a large truck and some guys passing at 3x that speed in their Maserati or Porsche or Audi or BMW. All this mess with the tree on our house and #StateFarm handling it so badly has left me without much willpower for anything else. But somehow today I managed to get the #motorcycle together for a ride to Columbus (from Cleveland) to see my kids (who are at my mom’s; see “State Farm”, above). And man, I’m glad I did. Such a head-clearer. And such a beautiful day for it.

My love for Deadwood, SD, #harleydavidson #motorcycle and little kids looking at bikes has collided. I will always take time to allow little people to dream. I was that little boy who loved motorcycles and stuff, when someone did something to bring me closer, I would be awe struck. Today when I ride, I love seeing kids looking at bikes, for escape, to dream, to feel something different and I believe a lot of bikers feel the same. Glad H-D is capturing this and putting it on display as it’s one of the legacies the Motor Company imprints on our roads. I have never lost this feeling and hope I never do.
