OMG!! I am at Boskone, a scifi/fantasy convention in Boston. Wearing my Doctor Who inspired sweater that I designed & knitted (as one does). 2 ppl sitting nearby admired the sweater. I made the appropriate answer: "thank you, I made it myself." 1 of the pair asked me if I'd heard of Barbara Walker. Yes, I said, she is one of my knitting heroes. He smiles & says "She was my mother." Cue muppet flailing & embarrassing fangirl squealing. #knitting #boskone

In the alternate reality I’m currently living in, #finishorfrogalong is still running, so today I finished #knitting these socks. Yarn is Regia Tutti Frutti Papaya. I’m still trying to find a heel pattern I like, these were made with a German short row boomerang heel, which I’m not a fan of because it was full of gaps I had to sew up at the end. My next heel experiment will be a pair for my wife using the famous Fish Lips Kiss Heel.

RE: https://tech.lgbt/@Natasha_Jay/117382397216266564 that’s why #NASA hired teams of #embroidery #knitting #beading #fiberArts experts who all so happened to be not just women but mostly Native American, African American and Latinas. they were nicknamed the Little Old Ladies and without them there would be no Apollo program. they won't even teach you in school that the LOLs were preceded by women who ―if they wanted a chance to enter college, a privilege only for men― they did so by being computers (mathematicians) for “real” scientists. 🧵…
