#gsoc

Having an absolute blast at #EuroBSDCon as always. Loads of cool people, excellent tutorial on the #CRA and its implications for open source, very interesting #bhyve developments, a fantastic "debut" by Federico Angelilli bringing kernel live patching on #FreeBSD through his #GSOC project. As always I brought some properly obsolete hardware: a 486slc2 running #NetBSD (or OS/2 on request), a Toshiba luggable 486SX2-66 with #DOS and #MonkeyIsland, #DOTT, #Larry, #SpaceQuest or whatnot, and - surprisingly - a Pentium 3-based Gericom laptop gifted to me by @outofcreativity@exquisite.social which is now upgraded from #OpenBSD to NetBSD ;-) #EuroBSDCon2026

https://www.gimp.org/news/2026/07/18/gsoc-2026-midpoint-progress/ Our Google Summer of Code students have been making great progress this year! Here is just some of what they have been doing. #GIMP #GIMP3 #GIMP3_4 #GSoC #LibreGraphics #programming #SummerOfCode #Google

Making the world a better place means you need to put in an extra effort to have fun. No matter what you want to improve, know that you will make it happen as long as you don’t give in and continue to #play and be #playful. And this is why I spend my summers as a #googlesummerofcode ( #gsoc) mentor making #games to teach others about #appsec, #ai, and #llm making #opensource software on behalf of @owasp@infosec.exchange .

In this year's GSoC GNOME will mentor 6 new contributors! Congratulations!! They will be working on things like implementing native uninstallation support to App Grid, enabling recovery from GPU resets and more! https://summerofcode.withgoogle.com/programs/2026/organizations/gnome-foundation #GNOME #GSoC
