The Count the Hidden People Walk is done again for this year! I'm so tickled that this has become an annual event here in Merrickville, Ontario! A big thank you to the Lions Club, Coba Studios, The Merrickville Public Library, and the Merrickville District Trail Society for supporting this venture. And thank you to everyone who walked the trails and counted! The Merrickville Library will be announcing winners in the near future! See you next year! #grickledoodle #hiddenpeople #puzzleagent #gnome
Censor, a new document redaction tool, is there!
It allows to draw black rectangles on PDF documents and to permanently remove the text and images below. Find it on @Codeberg@social.anoxinon.de: https://codeberg.org/censor/Censor get it from @flathub@floss.social: https://flathub.org/apps/page.codeberg.censor.Censor or translate it on Codeberg Translate: https://translate.codeberg.org/engage/censor
It is a free and open-source graphical user interface (GUI) for #Linux and the #GNOME desktop, and uses the #MuPDF library with its #python bindings from the #PyMuPDF module.

“A historic moment for Censor”
#Censor – the PDF redaction tool for the @gnome@floss.social desktop – comes now with a new edit history. It allows you to undo and redo redactions using the right-click context menu or keyboard shortcuts. Also, a bug that prevented repeated saving to the same file path was fixed.
Get the new version from @flathub@floss.social: https://flathub.org/apps/page.codeberg.censor.Censor and find it on @Codeberg@social.anoxinon.de: https://codeberg.org/censor/Censor/releases/tag/v0.4.0
You may now talk Chinese, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Italian, and Vietnamese with Censor (thanks a lot to the translators!). If your language is missing from this list I invite you to contribute at Codeberg Translate: https://translate.codeberg.org/engage/censor

Hi Mastodon! I'm a DevOps engineer, mostly Kubernetes, Jenkins and a lot of Linux boxes.
In my spare time I make small open source things that I will share here. I also write notes at https://thelinuxnotes.com

I implemented a new caching strategy for Bazaar, cutting the app's (cached) startup time from around 3.2 seconds to 1.4 seconds. It should hopefully be included in the next release. #GNOME

Hopefully it will be open source, so you can build it yourself. It seems to be related to gnomeOS…
In the mean time, if you have any other feedback, find us in #gnome-os:gnome.org on Matrix, or leave a comment.

@ekes@drupal.community I think this is more in the context of GUI, like #Gnome 3 specifically... press super key, start typing calc, press enter too quickly and you have a spreadsheet instead of a calculator. 😂

Mosaic WM's smart resize just got a full rewrite.
Instead of shrinking windows step by step and waiting for Mutter to catch up each time, it now uses get_min_size()/get_max_size() from Mutter 50 to binary search the optimal scale factor upfront (layout simulations fully synchronous).
All polling machinery are gone (-770 lines) _Everything that I pray praise the Lord_ 🎶🎶.

⚠️ Important notice for Mosaic WM testers:
Starting from commit b96f204, #Mutter 50+ is required. The smart resize system was rewritten as mentioned in the toot above.
If you're on an older version, stick to the previous commit. This isn't just a preference, the extension won't work properly without these APIs.

I implemented "mid-flight" behavior for animations so they aren't canceled when another movement animation starts, instead, the new animation begins from the object's current position during the animation.
