Three good things

Today

1. We managed to trim the claws on all three of our cats which means my back and shoulders and jeans won't be scratched and shredded for a while.

2. We had another visit (seen on the trail cam) from the handsome young stag who has been hanging around at night. And We didn't catch the bear on the trail cam (that's a good thing, so I guess that makes 4). I'll try to upload to the first comment bit out might be too big.

3. On our walk this afternoon a chipmunk posed nicely for me as long as I wanted, so I took way too many photos.

I ran into the field at the top of our garden to get this, talking out loud all the time to make sure our local bear(s) knew I was there*. It was so cold! But when I got in, Steve had the wood stove burning nicely and the house was getting lovely and warm. Have a lovely evening or day, fedi friends. Rupert was such a special cat and our first Cornish Rex. 2002-2019 We still miss him. He was the cat we didn't want! We specially wanted a female, solid colour (brown or black or grey). But the minute we saw this tiny squirming red tiger-marked tabby male kitten, we knew he was ours! He was not only a wonderful friend and companion, full of character, but when we took him to his only cat show at 8 months old, he won his championship and every other prize going and the hearts of the judges and all who saw him! He then quit competing so as not to demoralize the other cats. He was kind in that way, too. 1. I got to talk to my dear young Iranian friend for almost an hour yesterday. It was such a joy to see her lovely face and hear her reassuring me that she and her family really are okay.

2. A beautiful monarch butterfly spent some time flying around the marsh milkweed we planted 2 years ago. Such a joy to see.

3. This pretty coneflower (echinacea), left over from my patch of wildflowers that is almost taken over by common milkweed, was discovered by a leaf cutter bee, late this afternoon.

Simple pleasures.

Tree Seed Pod Have you ever seen anything like this? Maybe. But it's completely new to me. Really look at it. Isn't it exquisite? Check out the detail by zooming in. These were all over the ground when we stopped at Kingsport Beach on our bike ride. It's just such a gorgeous design, at first I thought this was part of a bracelet that had broken and been left on the picnic table. But too beautiful!
