Kara Kennedy essay on the way the new Dune films distort the portrayal of key characters and concepts from the book. She’s right. I hated the portrayal of Stilgar and Chani in Dune Part 2. I nearly left about halfway through watching it. I had pre booked a second screening for the next day. I didn’t go. Dune 2 was the most disappointing cinema experience I’ve ever had. #Dune

Dune’s Discomfort with Religion | Blog of the APA

Every adaptation puts a spin on the source material. Dune: Part One (2021) and Dune: Part Two (2024), by director Denis Villeneuve, are infused with a pro-secular viewpoint to the point that faith is denigrated as foolish, and skepticism is celebrated as heroic. These films could have aligned with Frank Herbert’s science fiction book Dune

-Frank Herbert #KI #Dune

It established the core religious commandment, "Thou shalt not make a machine in the likeness of a human mind," mandating a total ban on #AI and advanced computing to prevent human enslavement and technological dependency. #Dune
