As I reflected on what I experienced at #FOSDEM, the idea of organizing a devroom dedicated to #diversity was born. Together with @Gina@fosstodon.org @_elena@mastodon.social we submitted the proposal to organise a #DEI devroom at #FOSDEM27. It got rejected. 😢💔 Every year we leave #FOSDEM inspired by the people we meet & the passion for #opensource. And every year we also find ourselves thinking about how much greater it could be if more people with different perspectives were part of those conversations.

There's quite an overlap between demoralizer blackpillers, and temporarily embarrassed academics. They both have an overwhelming need to deny that China is advancing in reusable rocketry. Because that advancement spells doom for diversity, equity, and inclusion. #China #DEI

I guess using #DEI as a pejorative is easier than coming to terms with facts: I’m better, I work harder, I have a higher GPA, I have better connections, I play more instruments, speak more languages, the actions and morals match the words, and I feel deeper, see further, and understand much more than your feeble brain can comprehend. Above all, despite the unwarranted evil racial psychosis you consistently aim in my direction, I live a better and much more peaceful life than you will ever see.

There is a new toolkit

to help law schools, law firms and other organisations design and develop effective partnerships and initiatives that widen access to the solicitors' profession for people from underrepresented backgrounds.

I don't know how many, if any, people who'd like to be a solicitor in England and Wales are in the fediverse, but if you are one of them, I'm always happy to find time to have a chat (audio or video, as you wish) about my experience, talk about "commercial awareness" etc.

(I can't offer placements, work experience/shadowing, and the like.)

I've accused #DOGE of terminating #NEH grants (and other grants) by using dumb keyword searches to look for prohibited words. It turns out that DOGE used dumb #ChatGPT prompts instead. Like this one (quoting verbatim): “Does the following relate at all to D.E.I.? Respond factually in less than 120 characters. Unfortunately we ARE going back to this, in Alberta. The whole point of book banning is to reduce exposure to diversity, especially to the most easily influenced. Who do you think benefits from that? Donald Trump, and America's fusion of Christian Nationalism, White Supremacism and the Far Right, are not only trying to turn back the clock on #DEI but eradicate the entire idea that Slavery is a Bad Idea and that Black people have any place in American culture and society. Morning, all, it's called #UNREP (Underway Replenishment) or #RAS (Replenishment At Sea); it's a routine evolution for any truly pelagic Navy. But it's not without risk. Warships occasionally collide when manoeuvring two/three massive ships within 50 metres of each other at up to 18 knots.
