A great day at the beach today!. The ocean was calm and I had a nice swim. One “wrinkle”— before the swim, a large fin emerged and moved about for several minutes. Drew quite a crowd of onlookers. With the known presence of aggressive sharks here, I was just about to cancel the swim. But soon the fin flopped back and forth, consistent with an ocean sunfish, not a shark. After waiting a while, I then went for the swim. Fun! #CapeCod #ocean #beach#photography #nature #NaturePhotography

The thing about living on #CapeCod is that people think you're quaint and provincial and insular because you don't want to drive over the Sagamore or Bourne Bridges to get to the rest of Mass and New England. It's not that at all. It's because we know they're fucking obsolete deathtraps. Because almost every week there's news about rollovers or head-on collisions, and we simply don't want to risk our lives to go shopping or visit folks.
