⬆️ @woozle@toot.cat >> Okay, so you are in fact saying that they're not well-intentioned -- that basically nobody in the Democratic Party is well intentioned… Are you including #AOC? #Mamdani? Is #BernieSanders selling his soul by caucusing with them? Is #ElizabethWarren a #Republican at heart? None of the names you mentioned fit in the class of "actually well-intentioned but misled." You never answered: misled by whom and why can't they sort through deza? @ashwin@defcon.social @claralistensprechen3rd @SeanCasten@mastodon.social

DEFEATING TRUMPISM IS NOT ENOUGH: DEMOCRATS MUST DELIVER FOR WORKING FAMILIES Donald Trump is the most dangerous president in American history and Democrats must do everything possible to roll back his disastrous policies. But running against Trump is not enough. The American people are hurting and they want to see a pro-working class agenda that will provide meaningful improvements to their lives. Democrats must have the courage to take on Oligarchy, corporate greed and a corrupt campaign finance system. No more incrementalism, no more same-old, same-old failed establishment policies that simply make the rich even richer. Democrats must restore faith in democracy and the belief that government can work for working families and not just the billionaire class. Our job is to expand our progressive grassroots movement so that when Democrats regain power they must: ✅ Pass Medicare for All and guarantee health care to every person in our country as a human right. ✅ Increase the minimum wage to $20 an hour and pass legislation making it easier for workers to join unions. ✅ Raise taxes on the billionaire class and large profitable corporations. ✅ Lower housing costs by building 7 million units of low income and affordable housing. ✅ Provide free tuition at public colleges and universities. ✅ Get billionaire funded super PACs out of elections. ✅ Create millions of jobs by moving our energy system away from fossil fuels to energy efficiency and sustainable energy. ✅ Protect the American people from the existential and economic threats of AI. ✅ Cut military spending, end “endless wars,” and stop all U.S. military aid to Israel.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-interactive/2026/sep/20/anger-midterm-elections What the fuck do you think #trump was, beating #dnc canonized Hillary Clinton? What the fuck did you think #BernieSanders was? People have been angry for more than a decade, and it’s only gotten worse. And #democrats are still writing strongly worded letters, while trying to exclude progressives. And the far right is making gains globally, as #germany shows again (referendum on #merz ). People seek change. If your left is just right-lite, you lose to extremism. #uspol

"The Left Is Rising, So Centrist Dems Are Cynically Woke Again "The Democratic establishment said it was getting rid of the grating, cynical style of wokeness it blamed for its 2024 loss to Donald Trump. Then the Left began winning primaries, and those same Democrats changed their tune." "...After handing the White House to Donald Trump a second time and scrambling to dump the blame on someone else, Democrats did what they usually do when they royally screw up: they blamed the Left, pretending that this deeply unpopular and cynical political style — whose hallmarks include shallow appeals to racial and gender identity, questionable insinuations of bigotry against their political opponents, and a fixation on bashing men, a demographic the party is desperate to win back — was something that had been forced on them by progressives and socialists. "As this magazine pointed out at the time, this was pretty rich. There are certainly forces on the progressive left, rooted in college campuses and nonprofit groups, that stoked and continue to stoke the worst of wokeness. But it was Bernie Sanders and the movement behind him that had been saying the way forward was a politics that put people’s bread-and-butter concerns front and center and divisive identity politics and finger-wagging to the side. "For their troubles, establishment Democrats lined up to declare them a bunch of racist, sexist “Bernie Bros,” even secret right-wingers who, being white guys, were out of touch with a voting public that wanted to only talk about race and gender, and that they should move out of the way entirely. (Why is the Democratic brand in the toilet with working-class men? We’ll never know.)..." no paywall; login required https://jacobin.com/2026/07/democrats-wokeness-el-sayed-jackson archive: https://archive.is/Hryld #uspol #democrats #progressive #BernieSanders

Bernie Sanders wants the US government take ownership in AI companies. But is that really a good move? On #TechWontSaveUs, I spoke with Thomas Dekeyser to discuss the long history of tech refusal and why we need to recognize this tech is not neutral. Bernie and AOC are pushing a much-needed federal moratorium on hyperscale data centers. But their AI policies couldn’t be more different. Bernie’s AI policy responds to exaggerated industry narratives, while AOC is taking on the harms we’re seeing from their products. We need policy based on reality, not on hype. https://www.thenation.com/article/politics/bernie-sanders-aoc-ai-regulation/ #tech #ai #artificialintelligence #generativeai #datacenters #berniesanders #aoc #politics

The Atlantic | A New Phase of the AI-Jobs Panic by Lila Shroff AI generated summary, Read the full article for complete information. The article examines how, despite growing alarm over AI‑driven job displacement, U.S. government and Silicon Valley responses have been limited and often self‑serving. The author recounts a federal AI‑literacy text‑message course that feels more like a “side‑hustle” push than a robust safety net, while political proposals such as Senator Bernie Sanders’s AI Sovereign Wealth Fund—aimed at giving the government a half‑ownership stake in major AI firms—receive lukewarm support from CEOs like Sam Altman, who favor watered‑down public‑ownership plans that could also benefit their companies. Meanwhile, tech giants are funding initiatives that portray them as saviors: OpenAI and Anthropic have pledged hundreds of millions of dollars to research, grants and programs like “Claude Corps,” and the new nonprofit Raise Us, backed by Silicon Valley donors and led by Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, will test policies such as wage‑insurance, apprenticeship and AI‑tool training in several states. Economists remain uncertain whether AI will trigger a mass‑layoff crisis, but the article argues that the industry’s “public‑private” efforts mainly aim to shape the narrative, increase dependence on AI tools, and protect its reputation while modestly addressing the looming labor transition. Now they want to chat about #GrahamPlatner who was endorsed by #Berniesanders and the #DSA. The guy was popular because HE LOOKS LIKE A LOBSTERMAN and in #MAINE, that connects. Now, if Democrats can't beat #SusanCollins with a head of lettuce, the voters in Maine love Susan Collins. That's it. Maine is in scope #CNN#NoKings

RE: https://flipboard.com/@politico/politics-u9ikh4qkz/-/a-CZkxlrc3RCWn7cBymFRn5w%3Aa%3A3195449-%2F0 Yay! Steve Bannon argues that #Mandami #BernieSanders #DSA are the ascendant political force like the #TeaParty populists pre-Koch corruption, and both MAGA and Democratic Party playbooks of "money wins" and traditional endorsements will no longer be determinate - enthusiasm, commitment, actions, and a resonant working people's message is now "the coin of the political realm" not billionaire or Party money that wins (take that SCOTUS). Bannon is pretty freaked out by Colorado socialists wins. He believes Mandami is not just a localized liberal NYC one-off, but a national trend. Bannon intimates that Trump is a disruptor, not a populist and cannot be replicated. Bannon, an unrepentant global white Christian nationalist/fascist is pushing his fear of this new emerging political change as "Marxist jihadism" ie every accusation is a confession. It may be why Trump is pushing "Commie" fearmongering... meanwhile a J6er Trump pardoned was revealed to have been a paid agent for Rubio's nemesis Cuba (paid by the grandson of Fidel, a Cuban government official). But low info MAGA don't care - they're angered by high prices in food, housing, and healthcare, by opulence and ostentatious shoved-in-our-faces wealth by those who claim to care but don't. Trump and MAGA and Musk as the avatars of the billionaire/trillionaire Epstein class are over.

CounterPunch.org | AI is a Public Resource: You Should Own Half of It by Bernie Sanders AI generated summary, Read the full article for complete information. Bernie Sanders argues that artificial intelligence—foreseen as the most transformative technology in history—will reshape every aspect of society, from the economy and democracy to health, the environment, and education, and that its impact is inevitable; the real question, he says, is who will own and control that future. He stresses that AI is built on the collective knowledge, creativity, and data of generations of people—books, songs, art, journalism, code, research, conversations, images, and ideas—yet the tech elite have appropriated this work without permission or compensation. To prevent a handful of billionaires from monopolizing the benefits, Sanders proposes an “American AI Sovereign Wealth Fund Act,” which would impose a one‑time 50 percent tax in the form of stock ownership in the largest U.S. AI companies, creating a public sovereign wealth fund so that the wealth generated by AI is shared by all rather than concentrated in a few corporate moguls. The Atlantic | The AI Backlash Could Get Very Ugly by Lila Shroff AI generated summary, Read the full article for complete information. The article outlines a growing bipartisan backlash against artificial intelligence, driven by fears that the technology will eliminate jobs and concentrate wealth in the hands of a few “AI oligarchs.” Prominent figures from both the left (e.g., Senator Bernie Sanders) and the right (e.g., Steve Bannon, Senator Josh Hawley) have warned that AI threatens the working class, a sentiment reflected in high public concern and even violent actions such as shootings and arson aimed at data‑center projects and AI leaders. As the 2026 midterms approach, politicians are leveraging anti‑AI rhetoric to rally voters, while local communities push back against data‑center construction as a tangible focal point for their opposition. The piece draws a parallel with the Industrial Revolution, noting that technological upheaval historically provokes social unrest when workers feel their livelihoods are at stake, and argues that without genuine policy responses the AI debate could escalate into broader economic and political conflict.
