Today's protest at Assen station was an emergency action in response to the Israeli introduction of a death sentence for Palestinians only. We were indoors with placards, and a recording which sounds a lot like the usual public address system in the railway station, but which informs people about the ongoing genocide. Israel's aggression towards the citizens of its "allies" also continues, as seen with the abuse of hundreds of people in the aid flotilla 1000 km from Israel. Is it really hot where you are? Did you enjoy the World Cup? Are you spending time with your loved ones? I saw two feuding groups on the street who were getting violent. I intervened to try and stop the dispute, and after a few minutes a militia arrived and put everyone in prison. I was jailed for 5 weeks. Thank God I’m fine, but I feel weak and exhausted after all this time with little sleep, little food, little activity, little exposure to the sun, and little time with my loved ones. This desalination plant will help us save costs on providing water and we will also provide our partner organizations with free water to distribute. Working in community is a key pillar of The Sameer Project. So this is not our success, this is the success of mutual aid groups in Gaza. To operate the plant, we will need around $1,500 per day and we will be able to produce at least 150,000 liters of fresh water with that. The Sameer Project still needs your support to operate the desalination plant so please commit to a small amount monthly to sustain this important work. There were banners, leaflets and we were singing songs of peace and solidarity. Israel's genocide of the Palestinian people continues while most of the the world looks away.
