The solar eclipse of August 12, 2026, from Lausanne, Switzerland. ☀️🌑
The eclipse reached 91%, and I captured it from the beginning to maximum, just before the Sun disappeared behind the mountains.
This time-lapse is made from 144 × 30-second videos, each stacked and processed individually.
Lunt 60mm + ZWO ASI678MM.
420mm, f7, 144 × 990 frames (142,560 frames total).

Getting my pinhole camera ready for the solar eclipse. Two pinholes of different sizes, so two Suns on the screen (unfortunately, I can't afford a trip to a dual solar system).

My summer holiday is to chase the #solareclipse in Spain tomorrow with an RV.
I am in the North of Spain for heat reasons. My current thinking is to chase the center path of the totality for #solar #eclipse duration reasons.
#Luarca seems like a good spot but it's supposed to be a bit cloudy. The eclipse is relatively late so I need to take position on the sky into account as well.

Anyone traveling to #spain for the #eclipse that could pick up 2 ppl to share a ride. I can't disclose location here, and you would have to get in contact by sending a DM to establish a connection over simplex or signal to figure out if a fitting pickup location could be found.
Sadly we are too broke to pay for the whole travel route but might be able to get to a fitting pickup location.

Decided to be wildly optimistic and purchase solar eclipse glasses tonight for whole family online in the hope that:
A) they arrive by Wednesday
B) the weather is not cloudy on Wednesday evening
C) we can find a west facing hill that we can get to by 6pm that won’t also have half of Norfolk there

Total solar #eclipse loading ☀️🌕🌍
On 12 August, the #Moon will slip between the #Earth and the #Sun, turning day into night for up to a minute and a half along the path of totality.

Historisk solformørkelse over Danmark - forbered dig allerede nu

35 years ago today a particularly long total #SolarEclipse hit Hawaii and Central and South America - of which astronomers on #MaunaKea made ample use as the legendary #WGBH documentary "Eclipse of th Century" shows: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRI5FEQbn7o = https://archive.org/details/EclipseoftheCentury (my favorite scene is in minute 45-46 when astronomers rush out of a telescope control room during totality to marvel at the eclipse with their own eyes).
