Hi Mastodon! #introduction

I'm Shub. I build free, no-sign-up tools for small online sellers and solo founders:

  • EU €3 duty + €2 handling fee checker
  • chargeback reply builder
  • US LLC filing checker for non-US founders (Form 5472)
  • property tax appeal checker

I'll post plain-English summaries of rule changes that cost small sellers money, and I'm happy to answer questions.

#Canada’s #Shopify Forecasts Revenue Above Estimates, Shares Surge *Stop supporting Shitify! The CEO publicly said he thinks retired people, disabled people and poor people shouldn't be allowed to vote! He has met with both #Carney and #Pollievre to get his ideas enacted!! If the company your shopping with uses Shitify, they are supporting the destruction of #Democracy and you should not support them!!

Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke thinks your right to vote should be linked to how much income tax you pay. On #TechWontSaveUs, I spoke to Rachel Gilmore to dig into how Shopify’s leaders are pushing right-wing politics in Canada — and why people should think twice about using the company’s services. So, #Shopify CEO Tobias #Lütke, whose company commands a market capitalization near $154 billion, told his social media followers this week that a tax-tiered voting system—one that would strip #voting #rights from anyone who pays no income tax—would be a “good system.” Under this proposed system, the disenfranchised bloc would encompass all retirees living on Social Security and pension income, students, caregivers, disabled Americans, and millions of low-wage workers who owe no net federal income #tax after deductions and credits. All so billionaires could have many votes. Like lobbying doesn’t exist. Tying the right to vote to wealth or tax contribution has a name: “census suffrage,” or property-qualified voting which entrenched the political power of the already wealthy and locked out workers, women, and minorities from any say in the laws governing them. We’re not going back. Fuck all of that. #Guillotines to the front, please.

Wealthy people are increasingly open in their support for the idea of #neofeudalism. This time Tobias Lütke, Founder and CEO of #Shopify: people who pay more taxes should get more votes (or votes with more weight). One could say: typical of a company that has a ‘controversial’ figure like #DHH on its board. Gfy.

Ok yeah no this is now a Tobias Lutke hate thread https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/shopify-ceo-appears-to-endorse-giving-more-votes-to-wealthy-canadians-9.7286688 There's no use in pretending these people are innovators, when they quite openly want to take us back 100 years Also looking back at previous thread post: what Tobi said 540 days ago looks even more 🤡 now in hindsight #canada #canpoli #shopify

RE: https://mstdn.ca/@senanthic/116999489497441305 If you still have a #Shopify store, this is your signal to maybe reconsider that… Their CEO recently said wealthy people should have more influential voting power. Get out. All the way out, bro.

https://theneedledrop.com/opinion/the-kanye-fallout/ individuals like Matt Walsh, as well as Libs of TikTok apparently use Shopify to do business and their entire brands are built off of just hating and demonizing and monetizing bigotry against the LGBTQ community. As it also turns out, the COO of the company is, in fact, the director of a Canadian far-right media outlet, too. So I guess this whole selling fascist merch on your platform is just par for the course and totally fine on Shopify, save for any fraud that might go on because apparently there's some actual ideological alignment there. Don't use Shopify. #Shopify #fascism #nazi #nazis #bigotry #homophobia #transphobia #altright #MattWalsh #libsoftiktok #hate #kkk

Today I deleted my Shop account. I didn't know I had a Shop account. I never signed up for a Shop account. I never set a password for a Shop account. I never read or agreed to the terms & conditions or privacy policy. According to the vendor, "it appears that you followed the correct steps to avoid opening a Shop Pay account." And yet... The link you want, by the way, is shop.app/delete-account #ecommerce #shopify #enshittification #consent

Top Stories | Canadian who sold lethal chemical online pleads guilty to aiding suicides AI generated summary, Read the full article for complete information. Kenneth Law, a 60‑year‑old Canadian who ran four online stores selling sodium nitrite—a legal food‑preservative that can be lethal in high doses—pleaded guilty in an Ontario court to aiding the suicides of 14 residents after shipping 1,209 packages of the chemical and related items to customers in 41 countries, including the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada, between January 2021 and April 2023. The shipments, which generated roughly C$296,000 in revenue, were used by dozens of people to end their lives, with 79 deaths linked to his sales in Britain alone. Law’s guilty plea avoided a potential first‑degree‑murder trial, and he faces a sentencing in September that could carry up to 14 years in prison under Canada’s counseling‑or‑aiding‑suicide provisions. @pludikovsky@chaos.social That's right! They always corrupt my address so it looks more like a different street in the same postal code. I would never choose them, but it's often an unwelcome surprise to get an email that something is on the way. Most recently, I wasn't able to correct it, or release delivery without a signature, so I had to drive 25 km each way to pick it up. Useless! #UPS #Shopify
