#EpicFail - Yesterday Trump encouraged tankers to run the Iranian blockade. This morning we were greeted by videos shot by the first tanker crew to take Trump's advice... showing the crew clinging to life rafts watching the smoking wreck of their ship. Three ships have been struck by Iran in the past 36ish hours. Iran says they're doing IR monitoring of engine heat for signs if any movement without their permission. #Iran #StraitOfHormuz #Shipping #Oil #KhameneiAssassination #US #trump

So I imagine Trump's not going to like what German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius had to say about the request to send more ships: "We did not start this war. What does the world expect, what does Donald Trump expect from a handful or two handfuls of European frigates to achieve there in the Strait of Hormuz, which the powerful American Navy cannot manage alone? It is not our war; we did not start it." #DE #Germany #BorisPistorius #Iran #StraitOfHormuz #Shipping #Navy #Trump #EpicFail

🟠 UPDATE UAE Reports Incoming Missile and Drone Strikes from Iran Iran's unified command instructed commercial ships and oil tankers to refrain from any movement not coordinated with Iran's military. A Korean ship is on fire in the strait, and Iran hit a UAE oil port. 📰 https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/trump-says-us-help-ships-stranded-strait-hormuz-tanker-hit-by-projectiles-2026-05-04/ #Iran #Shipping #Military #OilEnergy #Geopolitics #GeoWire

This video about the largest and most efficient engine on earth was striking to me in its pleasant and oddly calming delivery, not to mention the fascinating story within. Dunno - wanted to share. Washington built a $40 billion reinsurance facility to move ships through Hormuz. It has written zero business: not one dollar placed, not one vessel transited under it (Insurance Business, 17 May). The design explains the number. Cover applies only to vessels sailing under US naval escort, and two ships have ever done that, under the short-lived Project Freedom. A $40 billion facility waiting on a convoy. https://fault-line.io/extra-009/?utm_source=mastodon&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=extra&utm_content=extra-009 #Hormuz #Shipping #Insurance
