Typ z wojskowym backgroundem ze śmieszną fryzura lata ubrany w jak jakieś emo co się zaplątało na castle party napitalając cyberpunkowych ochroniarzy i oczywiście agresywne roślinki mieczem którym człowiekowi ciężko byłoby operować. Say what you will about Final Fantasy X-2, a game I keep meaning to play but I get maybe an hour into it and just lose all enthusiasm. I feel that's a past me problem, mid-2020's me would probably drag myself through broken glass to finish it. Gruesome imagery aside, something that has stuck with me for the longest time, since I first saw this game at a friend's house, was the opening. Less the cinematic. Less the opening battle. It's #VGMWednesday , so of course it was the song 『Real Emotion』 An absolute jam of a song, though i can see people disliking it because it isn't very Final Fantasy. Let's be fair, direct sequels to games wasn't very Final Fantasy back in the day. Today marks 25 years since the original release of Final Fantasy X in Japan back in 2001. An entry that marked several firsts for the series: it was the first Final Fantasy game for the PlayStation 2, the first with full voice acting and fully animated facial expressions, and the first to get a direct storyline sequel in Final Fantasy X-2. Also a game I should probably stop considering one of the "newer" FF titles, at this point. Much like Final Fantasy VIII, a heavy focus was placed on the romance between the two main leads, Tidus and Yuna. However, the broader story can justifiably be called a critique of religious institutions, tackling the correlation between uncritical religious dogma and systemic prejudice. It's blowing my mind that Final Fantasy, one of the most Japanese of 'Japanese Role Playing Games' was programmed by Iranian-born Nasir Gebelli, who left Iran to avoid the 1979 revolution. Studied programming in the US, and did notable work on the Apple II before being recommended to Square. He programmed the first three Final Fantasy games and also Secret Of Mana. So I'm reading about Final Fantasy I and this book mentions it uses a 'Vancian' magic system. So apparently this is from author Jack Vance and the 'Dying Earth' series of books. It refers to style of "remembered spells" that must be memorised and then disappear from one's mind when cast. Many nerds will recognise this as the system used and popularised by D&D. And indeed Final Fantasy I does use this system, before switching to the more generic MP system used in later games. #FinalFantasy #DungeonsAndDragons #Vancian
