Sieht also restauriert (bzw. // This isn't the palace you're looking for! This is #Potsdam City Palace, which no longer houses the margraves and electors of Brandenburg, kings of Prussia, or German emperors, but the parliament of the federal state of Brandenburg. So in its reconstructed form (it was in fact rebuilt from scratch from 2010-13), it may still look like a #palace, but it isn't one. The inscription alludes to René Magritte's painting 𝘓𝘢 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘩𝘪𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘥𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘴, which shows a pipe together with the claim "Ceci n'est pas une pipe" ("This is not a pipe"). #PotsdamCityPalace #StadtschlossPotsdam #Stadtschloss #architecture #Architektur #Rokoko #Rococo #AlterMarktPotsdam #WindowFriday #FensterFreitag

Westerstraat 158 in Enkhuizen is undoubtedly one of the city's most iconic and photogenic buildings, often considered the finest Renaissance house in Holland. Here is the detailed historical and cultural information: Historical Significance and Origins Construction Year: The building dates back to 1617, a period in the middle of the Dutch Golden Age and the Eighty Years' War. Original Function: The building originally served as the Market Masters' House (Marktmeestershuis). Here, the market masters supervised trade, measured and weighed goods, and ensured the quality of merchandise sold at the nearby market. At the time, Enkhuizen was a flourishing Hanseatic city with a massive fish and grain trade. Client and Symbolism: The building was dedicated to Prince Maurice of Orange-Nassau (Stadtholder and son of William of Orange). This is clearly visible in the façade decoration: The frieze depicts the coats of arms of Orange and West Friesland. The top of the façade features the Enkhuizen City Maiden, a symbol of civic pride and independence. A cartouche displays the construction year 1617.
