Just for scale and perspective, here's how the size of the Gaza Strip compares with major Australian metro areas. Sydney: Cronulla to Narrabeen. Western Sydney: Castle Hill to Campbelltown. (You can comfortably fit one Gaza in Western Sydney, a second from the southern suburbs to the Northern Beaches, and still have plenty of room to spare.) Melbourne: Werribee and Tarneit to Epping and Campbellfield. Canberra: Roughly the same area. Gold Coast: Roughly the same area. Brisbane: Brisbane Airport to near Ipswich. Adelaide: Port Adelaide to Morphett Vale. Perth: Joondalup to Fremantle. #Gaza #Palestine #auspol #australia #politics #news #Sydney #WesternSydney #Melbourne #Adelaide #Perth #GoldCoast #Canberra

#SouthAustralian authorities say they have five new suspected events of #birdflu in the state, including a red fox in #Osborne in metropolitan #Adelaide. SA's Department of Primary Industries and Regions (PIRSA) included the fox in its latest bird flu update that detailed five new suspected bird flu "events". Samples have been sent to a national testing facility in Geelong for confirmation. #auspol #avianinfluenza #mammals

Adelaide airport pulls ads from conservation groups but keeps gas and mining ads during ALP conference "Digital billboards from environmental groups, targeting Labor MPs attending national conference, cancelled with airport stating they are ‘too political’" It would upset the poor complicit fossil-fuel *sponsored* pollies too much apparently.. (* Feel free to go leave Adelaide airport a nice 1-star google review, as I just have 👍) https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2026/jul/24/adelaide-airport-cancels-environment-ads-keeps-gas-mining-advertisements #Complicit #LaborFail #Corruption #ClimateChange #HumanRights #Activism #AUSPol #Activism #Adelaide

Doing some data modelling to see if a solar sharer tariff would be better than our current import/export with battery. My first naive model from actual data (not time shifting usage into the sponge hours) is pretty marginal in summer, and rather expensive in winter. Which is at odds with some napkin maths I did last month. #Solar #HomeSolar #SolarBattery #Adelaide

Adelaide friends Looks like the State Development Area for Osborne -- intended for works for the Aukus submarine project -- is far larger than needed. See the map below. It's basically the entire LeFevre Peninusla which doesn't currently have residential housing plus all but the central streets of Port Adelaide. This includes Victoria Drive and the Port River and its shores. The SDA makes it easy for the South Australia government to ignore local government and community concerns about a development. I'd encourage you to have a good look at the map and ask "Why does this street need to have residents' views put aside?" Why the cruise liner passenger terminal? Why both the sailing clubs? Why the new high density residential construction in Port Adelaide? Why the new light industry area north of the Port River Expressway? Why both power stations, the cement works, and the fuel storage; all of which were satisfactorily constructed under the current rules? None of which have anything to do with making submarines. The Port Adelaide - Enfield Council is incredibly supportive of industry in the Port and Peninsula. As are the people of the Port. There is no Nimby going on here, not even in the local environment group. We've had decades of unemployment since containerisation in the 1970s, and whilst the corner has turned on that, people are still keen for a future which involves making and doing. Wanting that done right is part of making that future secure. If you too feel the size of the proposed Osborne State Development Area is an over-reach far beyond Osborne itself, you can comment here: https://yoursay.sa.gov.au/osborneSDA #adelaide

"Adelaide University considers dropping Santos name from building " And so it should. "The newly formed Adelaide University is considering removing [toxic] gas company Santos’s name from one of its buildings. On Saturday, students and conservationists rallied outside the Santos "Petroleum Engineering" building, calling on the university to dump the name because of the company’s new gas projects. The university had already been considering dropping the name after a sponsorship deal expired, its vice-chancellor told Guardian Australia. Prof Nicola Phillips started as vice-chancellor in January after the University of South Australia and the University of Adelaide merged. “That process of consideration was already under way,” she said." https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2026/apr/20/adelaide-university-considers-dropping-santos-name-from-building-ntwnfb #BoycottSantos #ClimateChange #Environment #News #HumanRights #Activism #Adelaide

Almost squashed an idiot with the car today. Heading down Beach Road in Noarlunga, and this e-bike suddenly came from nowhere on my inside and disappeared up towards Christies Beach. I was doing 60 already. 😱 #Adelaide

#Bunnings Windsor Gardens has a lot to learn about customer service.. This morning, american accent girl "serving" couldn't even be bothered to acknowledge existence: Me: "Hello" Her: "Flybuys?" [Turns back to her coworker and continues chatting with him] Me: "No, Hello..." Her: "Cash or Card?" [Turns back to her coworker and continues chatting with him] Me: "Card" Her: [Shoves card reader towards me while continuing chatting with her coworker] Her: [Hands receipt to me while continuing chatting with her coworker] I don't care if your worker has the "major hots" for the guy working next to her, when you're serving a customer acknowledge and serve them. #CustomerService #Ethics #Australia #Adelaide
