a little concerned to see news from Spain that the Supreme Court has suspended voting rights of citizens (like me and my children) who obtained citizenship through their spanish born parents and grandparents. It is extremely unusual for a citizen not to have the right to vote in general. It goes against Spain's constitution. Of course this question to the Court was put forward by Vox, the far right conservative party. it will have to be resolved before the elections. It would be unprecedented in Europe in post war, post Franco, times for a class of citizens to be excluded from voting. Either they restore the right by clarifying the law, or they strip us of our citizenship completely. I just can't imagine there would be wide domestic political support for disenfranchising millions of people who have clearly declared their intention and desire to be reconnected with Spain. our family has built a lot of future plans around our spanish and EU citizenship. A change like this would be deeply disappointing. 🇪🇸 https://english.elpais.com/spain/2026-09-09/spains-top-court-suspends-voting-rights-for-some-descendants-of-civil-war-exiles.html #espana #lmd #spain #vox #citizenship #farright #immigration #franco

Why Democrats stopped talking about climate William Lawrence is a Democrat running to represent Michigan’s Lansing-area Seventh Congressional District with a campaign that largely focuses on data centers and affordability. It’s not an unusual story in 2026 — but not long ago, Lawrence was cutting his teeth in progressive politics as a co-founder of the Sunrise Movement, primarily focused on organizing […]... 🔗 https://www.vox.com/america-actually/504178/william-lawrence-michigan-7th-data-centers-climate-sunrise #News #USNews #Vox

Google is sending a data center into space During a tense vote on a data center being built in her drought-stricken Arizona district last summer, Tucson City Councilmember Nikki Lee made an unlikely pitch: “We’re going to get a little out-of-this-world for a second, so just bear with me.” Like many of her constituents, Lee did not want Project Blue, a sprawling 290-acre […] 🔗 https://www.vox.com/future-perfect/501756/orbital-data-centers-space #News #USNews #Vox #Space

The psychology behind Trump’s obsession with DC renovations Since President Donald Trump returned to office, he has moved aggressively to leave his mark. Many of his most visible legacy projects are not pieces of legislation, though. They’re part of a campaign to reshape Washington, DC, itself. Last year, Trump knocked down the East Wing of the White House to make way for his […]... 🔗 https://www.vox.com/podcasts/503467/trump-dc-renovations-obsession-ballroom-kennedy-center-arch #News #USNews #Vox

The man behind Trump’s rejection of AI safety As the heads of leading artificial intelligence companies came together last weekend to warn that runaway AI development could lead to catastrophic outcomes, momentum briefly seemed to be building for regulatory action from Washington. An elegant fix for one of America’s deadliest road problems In 2012, Southern California was besotted with an unlikely celebrity: a telegenic mountain lion who had crossed one of the state’s most perilous freeways, seeking a territory to call his own. Widely deemed “LA’s loneliest lion” and “most eligible bachelor,” the chiseled puma in question, named P-22, roamed the bustling but otherwise big cat-less Hollywood […]... 🔗 https://www.vox.com/future-perfect/502341/wildlife-crossings-wallis-annenberg #News #USNews #Vox

What happens when a blue state votes on trans sports? Republicans have been turning transgender athletes into a wedge issue since Idaho passed the first state ban in 2020. This year, it’s already playing a major role in midterm ads, with Democrats in competitive races almost always on the defensive. At this point, the fight doesn’t even need a trans athlete: The WNBA spent the […]... 🔗 https://www.vox.com/politics/501579/transgender-washington-midterms-ballot-measure-girls-sports-athlete #News #USNews #Vox

Trump’s imaginary Red Scare Democratic socialists keep winning primary elections, and Democratic voters are trending in the same direction: Recent polling suggests that a third of Democrats and Democratic-leaning adults now identify as democratic socialists. Most recently, Abdul El-Sayed, who does not identify as a democratic socialist but was endorsed by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez […]... 🔗 https://www.vox.com/podcasts/498360/trump-democratic-socialists-communism-red-scare #News #USNews #Vox

How video games can make young men feel less alone Young American men are in trouble. They are the loneliest demographic in the Western world. Their social circles are shrinking. At all ages, they are significantly more likely to die by suicide than their female peers. But if there’s one place where young American men are likely to congregate, regardless of race or political beliefs, […]... 🔗 https://www.vox.com/culture/498216/power-play-video-games-george-e-osborn-interview #News #USNews #Vox

The real reason Republican senators should have opposed Todd Blanche For a brief moment late last week, it looked like acting Attorney General Todd Blanche’s bid to get the word “acting” removed from his job title was in serious trouble. But that moment appears to have passed, as two key Republican senators just signaled that they will vote to move his nomination forward. Sens.
