The plastics industry is pushing pyrolysis as a solution to the plastic pollution crisis, even though this polluting and energy-intensive process creates very little, if any, recycled plastic. Now, they plan to count the products of pyrolysis as recycling credits that can be applied to new plastic products containing minimal recycled content.
