Bought myself a 1987 Toyota Corolla for my birthday once, 950 dollars, and spent months restoring it properly. Rented it a garage, repainted it, drove it every chance I got.
It ended up being the car in our wedding photos.
Five years now it has been rotting in a damp garage in Ukraine, because of the war, and there is nothing I can do about that from here.
All I have in my hands is a keychain my father gave me.
Memory and pain hit at the exact same moment, understanding that the life I had is never coming back.
