#barrambin

GIICA want to fence off most of #Barrambin / #VictoriaPark this Monday 1st of June - in less than 3 days! This is 6 years before the games, without having released a construction plan for the public to review. That would require kicking out the First Nations camps on this culturally and historically significant site – during National Reconciliation Week. Our green lungs are being sold off. See below what we can do. Please boost 🔁 #OlympicGames #BNE #Meanjin #Magandjin #Brisbane #SEQ 1/?

On the same website, you can still sign the petition against a stadium in the middle of our biggest inner-city park: https://www.savevictoriapark.com/petition and donate to the legal fund: https://www.savevictoriapark.com/donate Donating via Friends of the Earth makes your donation tax-deductible. The same website has lots of resources to learn more about why constructing a stadium there is a terrible idea, but here's a shortlist of 10 reasons: https://www.savevictoriapark.com/why-a-stadium-in-victoria-park-doesnt-make-sense 3/? #BNE #Meanjin #Magandjin #Barrambin

In 24 hours, we managed to upload 232 observations. One week later, we've added 45 species to the list. There are now 348 taxa recorded at #Barrambin : https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/barrambin-victoria-park But there's lots more to explore and record, so if you're a local, please have a wander and contribute your snaps to the database! Every #iNaturalist observation that falls in that area makes it into the list automatically. A stadium doesn't belong here. 7/? #biodiversity #BNE #Meanjin #Magandjin #Brisbane

Even if you're not local, you can contribute by identifying observations to refine the data: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/identify?project_id=288305 Eventually, observations that reach a consensus end up in other databases, like the Atlas of Living Australia. This is a report from the ALA for the same area. It lists 21 "threatened species". https://archive.org/download/ALA_area_report_Barrambin_2026-05-28/areaReport1779975680564.pdf 8/? #conservation #biodiversity #iNaturalist #Barrambin #VictoriaPark
